Serious landslide in Khe Sanh, many households had to evacuate

Prolonged heavy rain in the mountainous commune of Khe Sanh, Quang Tri province caused serious landslides, causing the back part of house number 74, block 3A, Hung Vuong street to collapse, and threatening many surrounding houses.

Ms. Thai Thi Nga, Chairman of Khe Sanh Commune People's Committee, said that the rescue team is urgently evacuating 12 households with 48 people and their belongings out of the danger zone. Ms. Nga emphasized that the landslide situation is complicated, posing a high risk of insecurity to the people.

The back part of house number 74 collapsed; surrounding houses also had landslides and collapsed foundations.

Previously, since the beginning of November 2025, Khe Sanh commune has recorded many landslides and subsidence points on DT.587 route (going to the old Huc commune area) and at a household in block 2. The damaged locations include: Km5+200, Km6+300, Km10+600 and Km13+100, in which the road surface is severely damaged and the negative slope is collapsed.

The police set up a fence, not allowing people to go to the dangerous area.

At Km1+700 of DT.687 route, the underground spillway area has been deeply dug, posing a risk of collapse. Many inner-city traffic routes such as the road to Ruong village (block 6), Tran Hoang street, and Pham Ngu Lao alley also have cracks and deep subsidence, causing difficulties for travel.
