After more than 25 years of starting a business, Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited in An Hiep village, Lien Hiep commune, Duc Trong district has opened up the output of more than 600 tons of fresh avocados of all kinds from farmers in districts and cities in Lam Dong province to the high-end supermarket system in the country, while gradually penetrating the export market.

Reporters visiting An Hiep village, Lien Hiep commune, Duc Trong district at the end of June 2024 recorded that Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited regularly purchased the end-of-season 034 avocado output and the beginning-of-season Booth avocado output, mainly concentrated in Duc Trong, Don Duong, and Lam Ha districts. Of which, there are 2 forms: the company purchases directly at the farmers' harvest gardens and farmers harvest and transport them to sell at the processing workshop of Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited. Most of the purchased avocado output is processed and packaged at the company and transported to the domestic supermarket system for consumption on the day after harvest.
Ms. Vu Thi Thu Phuong, owner of Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited, said that in the first 6 months of 2024, the company purchased an average of 50 tons of 034 avocado, wax avocado and booth avocado per month. Of which, 60% of wax avocado and booth avocado output, 40% of 034 avocado output, respectively, an increase of about 30% over the same period last year. “Our company purchases avocados all year round from farmers inside and outside the linked chain. We focus on purchasing the largest output of 034 avocados in the main and off-season from April to September; local wax avocados from April to July; booth avocados from June to September. The company's purchase price is based on each market period plus 5-10%. Our company pays enough money on the same day to farmers inside and outside the linked chain corresponding to the purchased output...”, Ms. Phuong shared.
Accordingly, up to now, Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited has stabilized the production, preliminary processing and consumption chain of about 40 hectares of avocado area of 4 representative households in specialized and intercropped areas with industrial crops in Duc Trong and Lam Ha districts. The majority of the production area in the chain is Booth avocado and 034 avocado according to VietGAP standards, operated by Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited with a fleet of 4 vehicles, each with a load capacity of 2-5 tons, to the garden to purchase nearly 100% of the annual output. In addition, the company also dispatches trucks to the gardens of adjacent households outside the linkage to purchase large quantities. Particularly, households producing avocado outside the linkage with small and isolated areas have also proactively harvested and transported them to the company's factory for direct sale in An Hiep village, Hiep Thanh commune, Duc Trong district. Some households have difficulty with investment capital due to crop failure or many other objective reasons. Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited advances cash for a period of 1-2 years without interest, then gradually deducts it from the avocado harvest output of the year. In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited invested hundreds of millions of VND in linking domestic and foreign farmers to produce various types of avocados.
To achieve the output and quality of avocados consumed domestically and internationally under contract, Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited has built a garden for growing Booth avocados and 034 avocados with complete technical processes on an area of 1 hectare located in An Hiep village, Lien Hiep commune, Duc Trong district for farmers inside and outside the chain to access, transfer and exchange experiences. Up to now, after more than 15 years, the 1 hectare garden has achieved an annual yield of up to 300 kg/Booth avocado tree, 150 kg/034 avocado tree.
Along with the domestic avocado consumption market through the high-end supermarket system, Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited began to penetrate and connect to export all kinds of avocados from Lam Dong. Specifically, in the first 6 months of 2024, the company initially exported more than 50 tons of various kinds of avocados from Lam Dong province to the markets of Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, China and received positive feedback for the next export shipments.
Thus, looking back over 25 years from Van Phuong Fruit Warehouse to Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited, it has created a significant effective shift from consuming Lam Dong avocados through intermediary distribution at large and small wholesale markets to direct consumption contracts for high-end domestic supermarket systems, especially exploiting the promising export market to the above-mentioned Asian countries. "The biggest wish of Van Phuong Agricultural Products Company Limited in the last 6 months of 2024 and the coming years is to increase the output of Lam Dong avocados by signing direct contracts with official export partners to the markets of Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, China...", Ms. Phuong confided.
