After the April 30th Celebration, propose to organize a Peace Festival in Ho Chi Minh City

The Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies (HIDS) has just submitted a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposing to organize an annual Peace Festival.

This proposal was made after the success of the series of festivals on April 30 - the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

According to HIDS’s report, the recent 30-4 celebration has made a remarkable mark in terms of both the scale of organization and the profound social and economic impact. Special forms of organization such as military parades, marches, large-scale artistic fireworks displays... have become highlights attracting the deep interest of the people and tourists.

However, according to current regulations, such highly symbolic and ceremonial forms can only be held in key years, associated with important political and historical events of the country.

To continue maintaining positive cultural and social effects, the city needs to proactively research and implement an annual festival model that is more innovative and creative, with the ability to spread widely, expected to be called the Peace Festival.

"Maintaining the annual Peace Festival on a grand scale and as important as the recent April 30 occasion will play an important role in stimulating domestic consumption, creating jobs and spreading the city's cultural identity. In the context of the economy facing many fluctuations and growth pressures, the Peace Festival will be a driving force to stimulate consumption, attract investment, promote service industries and contribute to maintaining the overall economic growth momentum.

This is an important basis for Ho Chi Minh City to shape the association as a "green economic cycle" with high spread and the ability to maintain sustainability every year" - Dr. Truong Minh Huy Vu, Director of HIDS, stated in the presentation.

In addition, in the context of Ho Chi Minh City's increasingly expanding area, merging administrative boundaries with a number of localities, it is necessary to build a synchronous spatial strategy, distributing festival highlights evenly throughout the areas, suitable for the scale of the new city, instead of concentrating in central locations. New cultural spaces and tourist attractions can be Saigon River, Can Gio, Ho Tram, Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Lai Thieu, Con Dao ...

2025 is considered a pivotal time to transform the festival organization model towards placing enterprises at the center of innovation, fully promoting the spirit of Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private economic development. On that basis, the Peace Festival will be a space to test a multi-dimensional, modern festival ecosystem, capable of operating on its own according to market mechanisms and implementing comprehensive socialization.

Typical activities of the festival will be visual technology and non-verbal entertainment activities: Artistic fireworks, drone demonstration; hot air balloon festival; architectural art LED-mapping light technology demonstration...

Speed sports activities with modern cultural performances - electronic music - light; water sports such as Sailing, jet skiing, windsurfing, Flyboard, paddle boarding, paragliding...

Tourism festivals, fairs, combo tours - cuisine - accommodation; tourism weeks; OCOP product displays; on-site experience tour programs...; community performances; creative activities at shopping malls, public spaces; AI, robot, peace technology experience spaces...
