On the evening of August 20, the art program "Vietnamese Birds" to celebrate the 100th birthday of Musician Van Cao (1923-2023) - author of the Vietnamese National Anthem and hundreds of other valuable works took place at the Hanoi Opera House.
The program was attended byPresident Vo Van Thuong, former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; representatives of central ministries and branches; the family of the late musician Van Cao and a large audience of Van Cao's music lovers.

The art program "Vietnamese Birds" celebrating the 100th birthday of musician Van Cao was directed and organized by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Musicians Association.
When mentioning Musician Van Cao, every Vietnamese citizen, even though they may not know all of his songs, poems or paintings, can certainly sing "Tien Quan Ca" to express their love for the Fatherland.
On August 17, 1945, for the first time, “Tien Quan Ca” resounded proudly before a vast sea of people at the Hanoi Opera House Square. For the past 78 years, “Tien Quan Ca” - the National Anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has accompanied the Vietnamese people through many ups and downs of history, becoming an irreplaceable sacred part in the soul and flesh of every Vietnamese person.
President Vo Van Thuong, former President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; representatives of central ministries and branches; the family of the late musician Van Cao and a large number of music lovers of Van Cao attended the program.
Along with “Tien Quan Ca”, Musician Van Cao also contributed to the flow of Vietnamese music a whole artistic heritage with many unique and valuable works in many genres: Love songs, marches, epics. He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal, the First Class Resistance Medal, the First Class Independence Medal, and the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts, Phase I (1996) by the Party and the State.
The art program "Vietnamese Birds" is a tribute to the great contributions of Musician Van Cao to Vietnamese music in particular and the country's art and culture in general.
With emotional footage capturing the images of musician Van Cao during his lifetime and an artistic space imbued with Van Cao's music, the program portrayed the artist in three fields: Music, painting and poetry.
In the program, the audience enjoyed Van Cao's music in all three genres: love song, march and epic, through many of his immortal works such as: "Thien Thai", "Buon Tan Thu", "Truong Chi", "My Village", "The First Spring", "Truong Ca Song Lo", "Tien Quan Ca", "Tien Ve Ha Noi", "Chien Si Viet Nam"...

Notably, the program has an elaborate combination of both outdoor and indoor stages at the Opera House, with the participation of hundreds of artists and actors. In particular, the song “Marching to Hanoi” and the theatrical reenactment of the song “Marching Song” at 19/8 Square, bring viewers back to the heroic and emotional atmosphere of the historic August days 78 years ago.
The program has the participation of many famous artists such as: People's Artist Quang Tho, People's Artist Quoc Hung, Meritorious Artist Thanh Lam, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, singer Anh Tuyet, artist My Linh, Ha Tran, Tung Duong, Lan Anh, Phuc Tiep, Dao To Loan, Ngo Huong Diep, Vu Thang Loi, Nguyen Thang Long, Dao Mac, Yvol, Do To Hoa, Thu Hang, Bui Trang, Ta Quang Thang...
The program also includes the Sun Symphony Orchestra, Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, Vietnam National Academy of Music, the Military Ceremonial Band, the MUCA Orchestra of the Military University of Culture and Arts, along with hundreds of artists, actors, musicians and especially students from schools in Hanoi.
Within the framework of the Program, in the lobby of the Opera House, there is also a space to display portraits of Musician Van Cao by photographer Bui Dinh Toan, along with images of some of the Musician's posthumous works./.
