Pham Thi Khanh Huyen, a 12th grade student at Nguyen Trai High School (Thai Binh), could not hide her disappointment when she learned that many of her favorite majors at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) no longer enroll students according to the C00 group this year.
“I was not good at Math and English, so I had planned to follow the C00 group from the beginning of 10th grade, aiming for Journalism, Tourism and Travel Services Management, and Public Relations. But when there were only three weeks left until the high school graduation exam, the school announced that it would stop recruiting group C. I felt shocked and helpless,” Huyen shared.
The C00 group, which already had few opportunities, was now further narrowed, causing Huyen to fall into a state of confusion. The sudden change in the final stage had a heavy impact on the female student's spirit, leaving her with no time to adjust her review schedule.
“I don’t understand why a large university called Social Sciences and Humanities is gradually eliminating social sciences from specific majors such as Journalism and Public Relations – majors that require the ability to perceive and analyze society. I feel like I’m being unfairly left out of the game,” Huyen expressed.

The sudden change in the admission plan has left many students in the C00 group in a passive state right before the high school graduation exam. On the official fanpage of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as many admission forums, candidates continuously expressed their disappointment, anxiety and confusion.
"There are only three weeks left until the exam, but now the school has just announced the enrollment plan and almost eliminated the C00 block in many majors. We don't know how to turn things around," wrote a candidate.
Many students said that the 2007 class was the first to take the exam under the new general education program, and had experienced many disruptions in both the content of the study and the format of the exam. Now, they have to face a sudden change in the admission method, which makes them even more stressed.
"We do not oppose innovation, but we hope the school will consider a reasonable transition plan, such as keeping block C00 as a parallel choice or considering additional admissions in the following rounds, to create fair opportunities for students who have been studying hard in this direction for the past three years," a student suggested.
Many candidates expressed their wish that the school review the project to ensure its suitability with the abilities, orientation and passion of students pursuing Social Sciences and Humanities.
