On the morning of October 31, at the socio- economic meeting for the first 10 months of the year and key tasks and solutions for November, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that after the merger of localities, the old headquarters of the District Party Committee and People's Committee of District 12, about 3.2 hectares wide, is vacant.
He acknowledged that the headquarters has a large area, available infrastructure, and is in a convenient location. If it is not exploited soon, it will be a waste and the facilities will deteriorate.
Therefore, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City proposed to receive the facilities of the old District 12 People's Committee headquarters to use as a school. After the arrangement, Thoi An Ward has 4 junior high schools but no high school, so the pressure is very great, needing an inter-level school to meet the needs of the people.
Mr. Hieu said that there are currently about 20 localities after the merger proposing to use surplus headquarters as schools, helping to reduce the pressure of increasing student numbers in the area.
In response to the above proposal, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung requested the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with the Department of Finance to report a specific list of surplus public headquarters next week to have a plan for effective arrangement and use.
The old District 12 Party Committee and People's Committee headquarters is about 3 hectares wide, located on two fronts of Le Thi Rieng and Do Muoi streets. The headquarters is equipped with a solar panel system installed on the roof, surrounded by many trees, fountains, etc.
