This makes Son the second highest paid player in MLS behind Inter Miami's Lionel Messi.

Son Heung Min joined Los Angeles FC in August after more than a decade at Tottenham. At his new club, the 33-year-old striker has shone, scoring nine goals in 10 MLS appearances. He also received the "MLS Goal of the Year" award, the first time an Asian player has won the award since its inception in 1996.

Messi receives an annual salary of $12 million and a total of $20.4 million from Inter Miami. Messi's total income comes from his original MLS contract that runs through the 2025 season. Last week, Messi agreed to a new contract with Inter Miami through 2028, and his earnings are expected to increase even further.

Messi's Inter Miami teammate Sergio Busquets is third in MLS with a salary of over $8.8 million. Another Inter Miami player in the top 10 is defender Jordi Alba, seventh with a salary of $6 million. However, both Busquets and Alba will retire at the end of this season.
