Implementing the Politburo 's policy on investing in building schools for border communes, on July 30, 2025, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province, together with leaders of relevant departments and branches, inspected and surveyed the proposed locations for building boarding schools for primary and secondary schools in Muong Leo, Muong Lan and Sop Cop communes.

This survey is a concrete step to implement Notice No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025 of the Politburo, aiming to ensure fairness in access to education and improve the quality of learning for children of ethnic minorities in border areas.

Through review, Son La province currently has 13 border communes with about 35,868 students studying at 44 primary, secondary and high schools. In reality, these border communes do not have boarding schools, and many existing boarding schools do not meet the increasing demand for education. Therefore, investing in the construction of inter-level boarding schools is considered an urgent requirement.

According to the leaders of Son La province, the construction of the school not only contributes to improving the quality of teaching and learning but also gradually reduces the rate of students dropping out of school, creating favorable conditions for students to have a stable learning and living environment, thereby developing comprehensively.

The working group inspected and surveyed the construction site in Muong Lan commune.

After directly surveying the current status of facilities and land funds at the planned locations, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet directed relevant departments and branches to closely coordinate with communes to urgently complete specific investment documents and plans.

Mr. Viet emphasized the importance of choosing a suitable location in terms of terrain and traffic, ensuring convenience for both the construction process and long-term operation of the school.

In addition, the Chairman of Son La province also requested to carefully calculate the scale of schools and supporting infrastructure to fully meet the conditions for organizing study, boarding and semi-boarding activities for students.

"Investing in building inter-level boarding schools in border communes not only contributes to improving the quality of education in disadvantaged areas, but is also a strategic solution associated with stabilizing the population and maintaining national defense and security in border areas," Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet emphasized.
