Son La promotes the strength of the people in fire prevention and fighting

NDO - On the morning of May 28, the Standing Committee of the Son La Provincial Party Committee held a meeting to summarize 10 years of implementing Directive No. 47-CT/TW dated June 25, 2015 of the Secretariat on "Strengthening the Party's leadership in fire prevention and fighting" and the implementation plans of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.

Over 10 years of implementation, the Standing Committee of Son La Provincial Party Committee has issued many leadership and direction documents, specifying the content of Directive No. 47-CT/TW, ensuring suitability with the actual conditions of each locality, agency and unit.

Propaganda andeducation on laws on fire prevention, fighting, rescue and relief have been promoted, contributing to raising awareness of compliance among cadres, party members and people.

Comrade Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of Son La Provincial Party Committee, spoke at the conference summarizing 10 years of implementing Directive No. 47-CT/TW dated June 25, 2015 of the Secretariat.

Under the direct leadership of Party committees at all levels, the active participation of the government, functional forces and mass organizations, the fire and explosion situation in Son La province has been gradually controlled. In the period 2015-2025, the whole province had 283 fire incidents, a decrease of 75 cases compared to the period 2005-2015.

Over the past 10 years, 586 units have been recognized as typical examples in the mass movement for fire prevention, fire fighting, and rescue; 880 groups and 1,036 individuals have been commended for their outstanding achievements.

The authorities have inspected 12,896 establishments and imposed administrative fines on 386 violators, totaling over VND2.1 billion. The work of reviewing and strengthening conditions to ensure the operation of the civil defense force is carried out regularly.

However, in addition to the achieved results, fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue work still has limitations. Some localities, agencies and units have not really paid due attention; compliance with legal regulations by a number of officials and people is not strict.

Over the past 10 years, the fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue police force has developed 850 fire fighting plans and 1,292 rescue plans.

Damage caused by fire and explosions continues to increase. During the period 2015-2025, property damage increased by about 42.37 billion VND; the number of deaths increased by 6; the number of injuries increased by 4. Since the beginning of 2025, there have been 12 fires, causing damage of more than 11 billion VND.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, emphasized: Fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue work is an important political task, associated with socio-economic development and ensuring security and safety for the people. He requested that heads of Party committees, authorities, agencies and units directly lead and resolutely direct this work.

The Son La Provincial Police force has researched and consulted on the organization and signing of a coordination regulation to promote the movement of all people participating in fire prevention and fighting in the new situation with the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

The province will continue to perfect directive and management documents in accordance with reality; proactively develop plans to prevent and promptly and effectively handle fire, explosion, incidents and accidents according to the "4 on-site" motto; promote administrative procedure reform in the field of fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue, creating convenience for people and businesses.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee also requested to continue mobilizing the strength of the entire people and the entire political system in fire prevention, fire fighting, and rescue work, taking "prevention as the main thing", effectively promoting the motto "4 on-site", associated with the movement of the entire people to protect national security.
