The PC gaming market is booming on Steam.
This new record further extends Steam's string of successes in 2024, with notable milestones prior to this, including:
- December 8, 2024: 39.2 million players
- September 23, 2024: 38.3 million players
- August 26, 2024: 37.2 million players
- March 15, 2024: 36.3 million players
- March 2, 2024: 34.2 million players
- January 7, 2024: 33.6 million players
This growth demonstrates Steam's strong position against competition from other platforms like the Epic Games Store. While the Epic Games Store has also seen significant progress, with 295 million accounts and a growing number of monthly active users, Steam remains too big and irreplaceable to replace it.
The record of 40 million simultaneous online users is proof of the strong growth of the PC gaming market. This large player base creates favorable conditions for game developers, fostering the creation of high-quality titles.
For example, the recently released game Monster Hunter Wilds attracted 1.38 million concurrent players on Steam, demonstrating the strong appeal and enormous commercial potential of the PC gaming market at the present time.
