On November 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that 304 people had suffered digestive disorders after eating bread from the "Banh mi toad co Bich" shop.
Of these, 244 cases have been discharged from the hospital, and 60 cases are continuing treatment. For the case requiring intensive care at Gia Dinh People's Hospital, the patient has been taken off the ventilator and has stable vital signs.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, the results of blood and stool culture tests showed that the agents causing food poisoning were s almonella enteritidis and s almonella spp.
The Department of Health directed hospitals and the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) to continue to coordinate with the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) to conduct microbiological culture tests and gene sequencing to clarify the causes and factors related to the above food poisoning cases.
One patient had a positive blood culture for Staphylococcus coagulase-negative (PV group), which was determined to be due to external infection. The coagulase-negative Staphylococcus group does not produce enterotoxin and does not cause food poisoning.
