Wealth of richest people to increase by $1.5 trillion in 2023

2023 is considered a "recovery" year for the world's richest people when the total net worth of the 500 richest people increased by 1,500 billion USD, higher than the total asset value of 1,400 billion USD lost in 2022.

The world's billionaires' fortunes grew last year, driven largely by record highs in technology stocks despite concerns about a recession, persistent inflation, high interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty.

Tech billionaires saw their fortunes increase by 48%, or $658 billion, thanks to investments in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index ranking based on the stock prices of companies closing on January 4, American billionaire Elon Musk - owner of technology corporations Tesla, SpaceX and social network X, has become the richest person on the planet with an increase in asset value of 95.4 billion USD after losing 138 billion USD in 2022.

Arnault - Chairman and CEO of luxury goods group LVMH, due to a sharp decline in demand for luxury goods globally.

American investor Jeff Bezos, founder of e-commerce giant Amazon, saw his fortune increase by $70 billion and is now tied with French billionaire Bernard Arnault for second place on the list. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg also added more than $80 billion to his massive fortune./.
