Presenting national flags and propagating IUU prevention and control in Ca Mau

(NLDO) - The working group went directly to each fishing boat anchored at the fishing port in Ca Mau to present the national flag to the fishermen.

On November 5, at the hall of Phan Ngoc Hien commune ( Ca Mau province), Squadron 42 of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command coordinated with the People's Committee of Phan Ngoc Hien commune to organize a propaganda session on preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing for about 300 people, including vehicle owners, captains and students who are children of fishermen in the area.

The peak period of propaganda, inspection and prevention of IUU fishing is a key task in 2025, demonstrating the determination of officers and soldiers of Squadron 42 to end the situation of fishing vessels violating foreign waters before November 15; contributing with functional forces and coastal localities to effectively implement the goal of "removing the yellow card" of the European Commission (EC), building a sustainable, responsible and internationally integrated Vietnamese fisheries sector.

During the propaganda session, the reporter disseminated the key contents of the Vietnam Coast Guard Law and legal regulations on IUU to vehicle owners, captains and students who are children of fishermen.

In addition, Squadron 42 also screened the video "Mock Trial" to propagate and disseminate laws on IUU to raise awareness of law compliance among fishermen, build a legal and sustainable seafood exploitation environment; at the same time, continue to affirm the core role in law enforcement, protecting national security, order and safety in the southwestern sea of ​​the Fatherland.

The propaganda content is concise, focused, easy to understand and easy to remember, combining direct propaganda on ships, leaflet distribution, situational dialogue and specific instructions for each vehicle owner, helping fishermen grasp the regulations and proactively prevent violations.

The working group also went directly to each fishing vessel anchored at the fishing port to present the national flag (sponsored by the Lao Dong Newspaper) and disseminate and mobilize vehicle owners, captains and crew members to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on seafood exploitation activities.
