On May 12, the Ministry of Construction said it had just issued a document directing units, project management boards, investors and businesses to urgently review and handle problems arising in traffic organization on highways.

According to the Ministry of Construction, in recent times, expressways have been put into operation effectively, ensuring traffic safety. However, according to press reports, some expressways still have problems in traffic organization related to toll station locations, rest stops, and operating speeds.

Therefore, the Ministry of Construction requires that for the group of expressways in operation and exploitation, the Vietnam Road Administration shall take the lead in closely coordinating with the Traffic Police Department, the Traffic Safety Committee, and the Department of Construction of localities to increase patrols and traffic control; strictly handle violations, especially violations of speed, lane encroachment, and reckless overtaking; regularly monitor and detect emerging traffic safety hazards and proactively supplement and immediately adjust traffic works.

In case of exceeding authority, promptly report and propose to the Ministry of Construction for consideration and decision. The Vietnam Road Administration is assigned to direct investors and project management boards to accelerate the investment and construction progress of rest stops according to signed contracts, and strictly handle investors and enterprises that delay in project implementation.
