Border guards put up warning signs to avoid dangerous areas prone to drowning. |
Specifically, on the evening of May 13, upon receiving a report from local residents that two people had drowned in the Lien Chieu sea area, the Lien Chieu Port Border Guard Station and the Da Nang Port Border Guard (City Border Guard) immediately deployed officers and soldiers to coordinate with local residents to rescue them.
After being rescued ashore, the border guards performed first aid and artificial respiration on the two victims who regained consciousness and called an ambulance to take the victims to Lien Chieu District General Hospital.
Through the investigation, it is known that the two victims are uncle and nephew in the family. The uncle is named M. (1999), from Ninh Binh, on a trip to Da Nang, the nephew is D. (2018), residing in Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district.
After school, the two of them went swimming together. While swimming, Dang was swept away by the water, so Minh swam out to save him. However, Minh was exhausted due to the big waves. Currently, the health of the two of them is temporarily stable.
Recently, there have been a number of drowning accidents in the Lien Chieu beach area. Residents and tourists need to pay attention to strengthening measures to ensure safety for tourists, especially children, to avoid similar unfortunate accidents.
In many cases, border guards are the first to detect, rescue and provide first aid to drowning victims – regardless of day or night, regardless of wind or waves.
They also actively coordinate with local authorities, rescue forces, and youth volunteers to organize propaganda and instruct people, especially children and the disadvantaged, to raise awareness and self-protection skills when swimming in the sea.
The image of a steadfast Border Guard soldier, close to the people, dedicated in every patrol, every reminder, every rescue action has become a beautiful symbol, contributing to building a culture of safe and civilized beach bathing in Da Nang city.
Captain Doan Hong Quang, Political Commissar of Tien Sa Port Border Station (Port Border Guard) said that it is necessary to innovate the current method of propaganda and drowning prevention so that everyone understands and remembers. Do not just post dry prohibition signs - use visual, easy-to-understand images. At the same time, organize the screening of videos simulating drowning accidents, escape skills, and life skills education - especially for the disadvantaged; open more free or low-cost swimming classes for poor children and students from other provinces; instruct first aid for drowning, simple escape, and distribute instruction materials in many languages.
It is also necessary to establish a group of residents to manage beach safety; mobilize local forces to participate in reminding and monitoring; increase the number and time of lifeguards on duty during peak season, and strictly punish cases of intentional violation of warnings....
