Strengthening occupational safety and hygiene in construction activities

The Ministry of Construction has just sent a document to its affiliated units and local construction departments requesting them to organize activities in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2024, in order to promote occupational safety and hygiene management; organize inspections and handle violations of occupational safety and hygiene (if any) in accordance with the provisions of law.

Accordingly, the month of action on occupational safety and hygiene in the construction industry in 2024 takes place from May 1-31, 2024 with the theme "Strengthening occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace and in construction works".

The main activities of the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in the construction industry include: Organizing and launching emulation movements to ensure occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace and in construction works; organizing rallies or programs and activities in response to the theme and content of the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene.

In particular, relevant units and organizations in the industry guide workers to identify dangerous factors that can cause accidents and accident prevention measures at the workplace and on construction sites; organize interdisciplinary inspections of occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace and during construction works; handle and propose handling of violations of occupational safety and hygiene (if any) according to the provisions of law.

Along with that are activities to organize rewards on occupational safety and hygiene for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in occupational safety and hygiene work according to regulations; visit and encourage victims and families of people with occupational accidents and diseases.

The Ministry of Construction requested the State Appraisal Department of Construction Quality to preside over and coordinate with the Vietnam Construction Trade Union to organize an inspection team on labor safety and hygiene in construction and activities responding to the Action Month on labor safety and hygiene as planned.

In addition, the Ministry of Construction also requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to coordinate and direct local construction professional agencies to launch a competition movement on occupational safety and hygiene in the construction industry in 2024 and organize inspections and checks on occupational safety and hygiene in construction works; handle violations of occupational safety and hygiene (if any) according to the provisions of law.

Organizations participating in construction activities launch emulation movements on occupational safety and hygiene in accordance with the conditions of the unit; coordinate with specialized construction agencies of ministries, branches and localities to organize activities in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene in 2024./.
