Strengthening the prevention of destructive fishing practices

Recently, the Provincial People's Committee issued an official dispatch requesting the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Border Guard Command, relevant departments, branches and local People's Committees to strengthen the prevention of the use of electric shocks, toxic substances, explosives and prohibited fishing gear in aquatic exploitation.

The Provincial People's Committee requested units and localities to step up propaganda in various forms, raising public awareness in protecting aquatic resources, especially awareness of the harmful effects of destructive fishing such as using electric shock, explosives, toxic substances and prohibited fishing gear. At the same time, mobilize people to participate in detecting and denouncing violations of the law in this field.

Authorities need to increase patrols, inspections and strictly handle acts of illegal production, trading, storage, transportation and use of banned chemicals, explosives, detonators, fuses, electric shocks and fishing gear that destroy aquatic resources.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to monitor and urge the implementation of this directive; periodically synthesize and report to the Provincial People's Committee and relevant ministries and branches according to regulations.
