In May, despite the erratic weather, at the construction site of the branch line connecting the main line to Cam Khe Industrial Park, part of the project: Inter-regional traffic route connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho Province to Yen Bai Province, Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company 898 - a member unit of the Traffic Construction Corporation 8 - JSC (CIENCO8) directly implementing the project is focusing on human resources and equipment, with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", determined to speed up the progress, construction, ensuring the progress and quality of the project.

Engineer Trinh Xuan Dao - Director of Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company 898 said that the project has a total length of 3.083km, designed according to the scale of a level III plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h. Starting implementation at the end of November 2024, the unit has mobilized more than 100 personnel with 45 pieces of equipment and machinery to deploy 4 construction "heads" along the entire route. The construction "heads" are divided into "3 shifts, 4 teams" working from 6am to after 10pm to speed up the project's progress.

Present at the project construction site, we witnessed the hurried, urgent, and disciplined working atmosphere of the team of engineers and workers here. At the Dong Men bridge construction area (km2+364), engineer Nguyen Tuan Anh - supervisor of Thang Long Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company said that with determination, responsibility, and ensuring construction safety, engineers and workers are divided into "3 shifts, 4 shifts" working continuously from 15-19 hours/day with the determination to complete on time, exceeding the construction schedule of Dong Men bridge.

According to the observation and introduction of the officers directly in charge of the construction, Dong Men Bridge is built with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete; the total width of the bridge is 12m. The bridge structure consists of 2 spans, I-section beams made of prestressed reinforced concrete, girder length 33m; abutments, bridge piers made of reinforced concrete placed on bored pile foundations with a diameter of 1.0m. Up to now, the unit has completed the construction of abutments M1, M2, is constructing pier cap beams T1, top walls, wing walls of abutments M1, M2, and at the same time, completed casting 7/10 of I33 beam slabs, striving to complete casting all beam slabs by the end of May 2025 to proceed with the installation of beams on June 10.

Representative of contractor CIENCO8, engineer Dao Duy Bich - Construction site commander shared that, along with completing the roadbed, the team is determined to speed up the construction of Dong Men bridge and 20 culverts across the road before the rainy season comes, contributing to speeding up the overall progress of the entire project.

Near Dong Men bridge - the section from km2+400 to km2+650 has complex terrain, passing through swamps and weak ground, the unit has to constantly change the construction plan. Many points, when digging 2.5-3m deep, are prone to landslides, so it is necessary to spread geotextile and cover the soil layer. Many sections have to be forced to build dikes to prevent water, dig deep holes to collect water and use high-capacity pumps to dry the ground, dredge all mud and soil, then drive bamboo stakes, spread geotextile to cover the roadbed.

From Dong Men bridge to the beginning of the route (in Cap Dan commune, Xuong Thinh), after finishing the weak ground treatment, the embankment work was carried out very urgently. Under the hot sun of early summer, dozens of workers were still highly focused, diligently operating excavators, bulldozers, levelers, scrapers, rollers, compactors... to create compaction and flatness for the roadbed according to strict procedures, ensuring the quality of every detail.

Mr. Le Anh Tuan - from Phan Rang - Ninh Thuan , in charge of the road rolling and compacting team, said: The majority of the unit's personnel come here to work from the South, Central and Central Highlands. Starting to receive the project at the end of November 2024, many brothers did not return home for Tet, did not take a holiday on April 30 and May 1, volunteering to stay at the construction site to work through Tet and holidays to shorten the project completion time. With the motto "not enough work during the day, take advantage of working at night", "overtime on sunny days, make up for rainy days", up to now, the roadbed has about 40% of the K95 fill volume and about more than 2,000m3 of K98 fill . If the weather is favorable and the sections that have to handle weak soil are on schedule, we will complete the roadbed in about 2 months.

The section from Dong Men bridge to the end of the route (Cam Khe Industrial Park - in Cam Khe town) has complex mountainous terrain, the geological foundation is mainly rocks mixed with soil, the volume of excavation and filling is large, the construction must combine many technical solutions such as blasting, cutting mountains, cutting hills to make the road connecting to the southwest area of ​​Cam Khe Industrial Park. Director of Company 898 Trinh Xuan Dao said: The project must cut hills, high mountains and dig and fill up low-lying fields and swamps, so every day of rain, we have to stop for 3 days. Since the beginning of the year, there have been 57 rainy days at the construction site. The construction progress is being carried out vigorously to make up for the previous rainy days when construction could not be carried out. Some difficulties related to the site, dumping sites containing excess soil and rock during construction, and construction material mines serving the construction are also being urgently and resolutely removed and resolved.

Premise opens up new momentum and development space

According to the report of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, as of May 22, the project of Additional investment in the construction of a branch line to connect from the main line to Cam Khe Industrial Park (under the project: Inter-regional traffic route connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho Province to Yen Bai Province) has handed over 2,792km/3,083km of land. The cumulative construction volume to date is 29.5/96.08 billion VND, reaching 30.7%. For the clean land areas, the contractor is mobilizing maximum manpower and machinery, working through holidays to make up for the progress. Of the total 428 households in Cap Dan commune (410 households), Xuong Thinh commune (2 households), Cam Khe town (16 households) whose land must be recovered, 428/428 households have been inventoried, 413/428 households have been approved for compensation plans (96.5%); 411/428 households have been paid (96.03%); at the same time, 17/17 graves have been inventoried, approved for compensation plans, paid and relocated. Currently, there are 9 households that must be relocated to a centralized resettlement area and 1 market area (Cap Dan commune has 5 households and 1 Cap Dan market area; Cam Khe town has 4 households). Internal inspections are being conducted on the acceptance of the completion of the resettlement area, land allocation to relocated households, and handover of the site for the project.

Also according to the representative of the project management board: Along with the main route of the Inter-regional Traffic Project connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province, 53.5km long, passing through 23 communes in 3 districts: Tam Nong, Cam Khe, Ha Hoa, the addition of a branch route connecting the main route of the project with Cam Khe Industrial Park is of great significance, not only shortening inter-regional travel time but also helping to create a multi-dimensional traffic system, conveniently connecting Cam Khe Industrial Park with traffic routes, industrial parks and neighboring localities, creating the premise to open up new development momentum and space. In addition, passing through an area that is mostly low-lying fields, swamps and high mountains, the route also combines the task of natural disaster prevention, overcoming the separation between regions, areas and localities in the rainy season.

According to the leader of Cam Khe district: With this additional branch line, vehicles from Cam Khe Industrial Park to other localities, other industrial parks of Tam Nong, Ha Hoa... will go straight on this road without having to "hitchhike" on National Highway 32C as before. When internal and external traffic is completed, the value of land funds will also increase, investors will have more favorable conditions when investing in the locality. Localities with land strengths will have remarkable development.

With the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", "only moving forward, not retreating", the project management board, construction contractors, and supervision consultants have been making efforts, actively mobilizing maximum means, equipment, and human resources to construct the project on schedule, ensuring quality, striving to complete and put the project into operation and use by the end of November 2025, reaching the finish line 1 month ahead of schedule.
