Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province wished to continue listening to the recommendations and feedback of investors and enterprises to remove obstacles and difficulties. Thereby, he also requested investors and enterprises to propose solutions and contribute ideas to the leadership, direction and management of the province, contributing to promoting the economic development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
The Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that in the past 3 years, the provincial competitiveness index of Ba Ria - Vung Tau has always been in the top 10 provinces and cities in the country and ranked first in the Southeast region. Regarding the provincial Green Index, there has been a remarkable improvement, from 19th place in 2022 to 8th place in the 2023 rankings. Thereby, it shows that the province is constantly improving the investment and business environment, reforming administrative procedures and pursuing the goal of green and sustainable development of Ra Ria - Vung Tau.
“Good planning will have good development space, good development space will have good investors, good investors will have good projects,” Mr. Tho shared and affirmed that the province always identifies the development and implementation of provincial planning as a very important task, a valuable opportunity to create a model of allocating development space, removing bottlenecks, renewing old growth drivers and creating new development drivers, implementing 3 strategic breakthroughs: breakthrough in connecting traffic infrastructure system, breakthrough in digital transformation associated with administrative reform and breakthrough in improving public administration capacity.
At this conference, Mr. Tho hopes that businesses, investors, and representatives of associations will contribute more ideas and suggestions to promote economic development and improve the investment environment of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
On that basis, the province will research and have policy solutions to overcome difficulties, obstacles, and barriers to actively support the production and business activities of enterprises.
Through this event, the Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau hopes to contribute to creating a favorable, open and transparent business environment to remove difficulties for businesses, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.
According to the Provincial Report, in the first 9 months of 2024, Ba Ria - Vung Tau granted new establishment registration certificates to 1,386 enterprises, with a total registered capital of about 14,875 billion VND (an increase of 1.01% over the same period).
Domestic investment attraction in 9 months reached 168.3% of the plan (3.5 times higher than the same period) with 22 newly attracted projects and capital increase adjustments with a total newly registered and increased capital of 34,751 billion VND.
Foreign investment attraction has reached 95.4% of the capital attraction plan for 2024 and increased 3.35 times over the same period in 2023 with 48 newly licensed projects and capital increase adjustments with a total registered investment capital increase of about 1.9 billion USD.
To date, the province has 489 foreign investment projects with a total registered investment capital of about 33.4 billion USD and 697 domestic investment projects with a total registered investment capital of about 400 trillion VND.
During the planning period to 2030, the province selected 4 important economic sectors as development pillars, including: Industry; Maritime economy - logistics services; Tourism ; Development of high-quality service sectors associated with the development of a modern urban system. The economic pillar sectors are attracted to investment in association with the provincial planning, on the basis of organizing the space of 03 development driving axes in 04 functional areas.
The provincial representative said that in 2024, Ba Ria - Vung Tau will continue to focus on innovating the direction, management, and organization of administrative reform tasks, especially enhancing the role and responsibility of leaders in directing and organizing the implementation of administrative reform tasks. Ensuring seriousness, completeness, efficiency, and timeliness.
With that responsibility, the Provincial People's Committee has established the Provincial Special Working Group 997 to receive petitions from businesses and investors in the area in order to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, effectively support businesses and investors... Up to now, Group 997 has received and processed more than 60 petitions, completed 38 and is continuing to process 22 petitions.
