Through instruction, Q&A, and practice activities, fishermen and fishing port officials learned about: Current status and impacts of abandoned, lost, or discarded fishing gear; card sets and posters for checking and reporting fishing gear; identification and classification of fishing gear waste; maintenance and handover of fishing gear waste at ports, towards collection for recycling; coordination process between fishermen and fishing port officials to sustainably manage fishing gear waste.

This activity is within the framework of the Project "Prevention, reduction and recycling of fishing gear waste polluting Vietnam's seas" sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Security and Consumer Protection of the Federal Republic of Germany; implemented by Ostfalia University (Germany) in coordination with Vietnamese schools, associations, enterprises and Nha Trang University. On November 4, Nha Trang University continued to implement a training program for fishermen and staff at Vinh Luong Fishing Port (North Nha Trang ward).
