Bac Giang has a long-standing historical and cultural tradition. Separated from the old Ha Bac province in 1997, the province then had 10 districts and towns: Bac Giang town and the districts: Lang Giang, Viet Yen, Hiep Hoa, Yen Dung, Tan Yen, Yen The, Luc Nam, Son Dong, Luc Ngan. Through many ups and downs, Bac Giang has affirmed that this is a "spiritual land of talented people" and is developing more and more strongly.
In recent times, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) of Bac Giang province has focused on implementing and ensuring the tasks assigned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; at the same time, proactively researching and advising the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Council, and the Provincial People's Committee to promulgate mechanisms, policies, projects, programs, and timely documents and instructions to guide localities and units to effectively implement the work of state management and development of the sector. Thanks to that, cultural, artistic, sports and tourism activities have been implemented synchronously and effectively, promoting advantages.
During the epidemic, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province organized propaganda by mobile vehicles directly in epidemic areas; organized competitions and performances online and recorded. Successfully organized 8 provincial-level competitions, festivals, exhibitions, and many large-scale cultural and artistic activities to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and political events.
In 2022, the Department paid special attention to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values. During the year, the province added 2 heritages to the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage; the President conferred state honorary titles on 3 "People's Artisans" and 12 "Meritorious Artisans".
The Department has also been proactive, taking advantage of the golden time and period when the epidemic is under control to host national and international sports tournaments and organize local sports tournaments. In particular, it has successfully hosted the 31st SEA Games Badminton in Bac Giang; directed the organization of Sports Festivals at all levels (commune, district, province) in the province and participated in achieving many positive results at the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022.
In addition, the Department has proactively taken the opportunity to implement the plan to reopen tourism and service activities; sectors, localities, and businesses have implemented many solutions to promote, stimulate, and restore tourism activities... Most recently, the 2023 Bac Giang Province Culture - Tourism Week welcomed more than 400,000 visitors to tourist areas, attractions, scenic spots to visit, worship Buddha, and attend festivals.

Bac Giang Museum - Important cultural institution
Bac Giang Museum is a public service unit under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province. This unit has the function of organizing and implementing research, propaganda and scientific education through professional and technical activities on museums and preserving tangible and intangible cultural heritages of history and culture in Bac Giang province.
In the first 6 months of 2023, the Provincial Museum has successfully completed all its objectives. Notably, it organized 4 exhibitions: Celebrating the Party, Celebrating the Year of the Cat 2023, Exhibition of the cultural heritage of the Tay Nung ethnic group in Bac Giang province under project 6, Cultural Tourism Week: Thematic exhibition "Sacred Buddhist traces in the West Yen Tu region - Thousand-year relics from the ground"; 80 years of the birth of the Outline on Vietnamese culture (1943-2023); 48 years of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2023)"; attracting about 11,200 visitors (including visitors at the Museum and mobile exhibitions).
Develop plans and outlines for mobile exhibitions inside and outside the province; Develop plans and outlines for exhibitions on the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ho Chi Minh with the people of Bac Giang province's ethnic groups at the Museum and serve mobile exhibitions in districts and cities; Prepare a program to organize a Japanese doll exhibition and introduce Japanese culture at the Provincial Museum on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations in 2023 (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023).
At the same time, implement the adjustment of the content of the permanent exhibition room; Directly explain at the exhibition areas of the Museum; Implement the programs: Regularly preserve documents and artifacts in the facility warehouse; Digitize documents and artifacts; Prevent termites in the document warehouse, artifacts and permanent exhibition area, wood warehouse; Participate in the Restoration Appraisal Team to conduct initial inspection and assessment of relics proposed for support for restoration and embellishment according to Plan No. 238/KH-UBND dated October 2, 2019 of the People's Committee of Bac Giang province on support for restoration of historical and cultural relics in Bac Giang province in the period of 2020-2025 in 10 districts and cities;
To improve the quality of service, the Museum also coordinates with organizations and individuals to regularly organize thematic exhibitions and performances of intangible cultural heritage, creating cultural spaces to meet the needs of the public to visit and enjoy cultural values. The outdoor exhibition area combines gardens and trees with large-sized and heavy artifacts including: ancient architectural pieces; statues of sacred animals; archaeological artifacts for reference; groups of weapons and military equipment participating in the fight against the destructive war of American imperialism.
Bac Giang Provincial Museum is an important cultural institution, meeting the public's need for research, sightseeing and learning about cultural heritage, contributing to educating the heroic and resilient tradition in building and defending the country of generations of Bac Giang people. This unit is also a highlight in the city's architecture and an attractive destination for tourists when visiting Bac Giang.

Culture brings Bac Giang to friends at home and abroad
In the cultural field, the Bac Giang Provincial Cultural - Cinema Center regularly does a good job of advising the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on documents on propaganda work, organizing cultural and artistic activities to serve the political tasks of the Central and local governments, thereby contributing to propagating, promoting and introducing the characteristics and cultural identity of the land and people of Bac Giang to domestic and foreign friends.
