Focus on removing obstacles to waste treatment projects in Lam Dong

On the afternoon of October 29, comrade Nguyen Hong Hai, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to listen to reports on the progress of waste treatment projects in Duc Linh, Tanh Linh areas and Hong Son Solid Waste Treatment Area.

Attending were representatives of leaders of departments, branches, People's Committees of communes; legal representatives of waste treatment companies.

At the meeting, comrade Nguyen Hong Hai listened to reports from departments, branches, localities and enterprises on the progress and feasibility of waste treatment projects.

The Nam Chinh Waste Recycling and Treatment Complex Project in Duc Linh Commune is invested by Dong Thuan Phat Environmental Treatment Construction and Trading Company Limited. The project has a capacity of 96 tons/day, an investment capital of 85 billion VND, and will operate from June 2021. Currently, the company is proposing to increase the scale of the waste treatment project to about 7,000 tons/year.

At the meeting, the leaders of Duc Linh commune agreed with the Company's proposal to increase the capacity of day and night waste treatment, ensuring thorough treatment of waste in the area, contributing to maintaining environmental sanitation and rural beauty.

The project of the Factory for sorting, recycling and treating domestic waste in Tanh Linh commune is invested by Thanh Long Environmental Treatment Construction and Trading Company Limited. The project has a land use area of ​​4.95 hectares, a total investment of 50 billion VND, and an operating capacity of 20 tons/day. The project has been in operation since the end of 2023.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the local waste treatment demand is currently higher than the capacity of the factory. Therefore, Thanh Long Trading and Construction Company Limited has a need to increase the scale and capacity of waste treatment. However, by August 2025, the factory has stopped operating.

Representative of Dong Thuan Phat Environmental Treatment Construction Trading Company Limited reported at the meeting

The Ba Phat Waste Treatment Plant Project in Suoi Ke, Suoi Kiet Commune, invested by Ba Phat Environmental Company Limited, has an area of ​​6.7 hectares and a total investment of 105 billion VND.

The project's objective is to treat domestic, industrial, hazardous and medical waste with a capacity of 72 tons of domestic waste/day, 12 tons of industrial waste/day, and 1.2 tons of medical waste/day. Through review, up to now, Ba Phat Environment Company Limited has not yet put the leased land into use.

Representative of Thanh Long Environmental Treatment Trading and Construction Company Ltd. made recommendations and proposals to remove difficulties at the meeting.

The Department of Finance recommends that the investor quickly and thoroughly resolve the licensing issue and put the factory into operation to ensure project progress.

In case the investor does not put the land into use within 12 consecutive months from the date of receiving the land handover on site, or the land use progress is 24 months behind the progress recorded in the investment project, a proposal to reclaim the land shall be made according to regulations.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested investors to properly implement the signed contracts. In case the units do not properly implement the contracts, the competent authorities need to advise and propose land repossession according to regulations.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committee of Tanh Linh district to inspect the projects. Thereby, determining whether the above projects are actually operating or not, and whether there is a violation of the contract or not.

On the same afternoon, comrade Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, listened to reports from departments and branches on the investment progress of the Hong Son Solid Waste Treatment Area Project in Hong Son Commune. It is expected that by November 15, 2025, the Hong Son Commune People's Committee will approve the detailed planning project of the Hong Son Solid Waste Treatment Area.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested departments and branches to coordinate and support Hong Son commune in building the project investment process.
