According to initial information from the Cat Hai district authorities, at around 5 PM on August 2nd, while anchored in the waters off Phu Long commune, a wooden tourist boat with license plate QN-6259 from Quang Ninh province caught fire violently.

Upon receiving the fire alarm, the authorities of Hai Phong City, Cat Hai District, and Phu Long Commune dispatched forces and equipment, including: fire police, border guards, commune militia, passenger ferry at Got-Cai Vieng ferry terminal, and the Hai Phong 01 fire and rescue vessel… to participate in extinguishing the fire.

By approximately 6 PM the same day, the fire was largely extinguished. At the time of the fire, there were six crew members on board; all were safely evacuated to the Phu Long Commune People's Committee headquarters. Currently, authorities in Hai Phong City and Cat Hai District are urgently working to mitigate the consequences and investigate the cause of the fire.
