Many rice fields are threatened by rising flood waters, and authorities and people are focusing on rescue efforts.
Currently, flood water levels in communes and wards in the Dong Thap Muoi region of Tay Ninh province are rising, with an intensity ranging from 1-10cm day and night. In recent days, the rain and flood situation has caused serious damage to hundreds of hectares of rice, fruit trees and vegetables of the people in the Dong Thap Muoi region of the province.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, as of October 24, the entire province had more than 633 hectares of rice, fruit trees and vegetables damaged. Of which, more than 500 hectares of rice were 100% damaged, 22 hectares of rice were 50-60% damaged; nearly 107 hectares of fruit trees were 100% damaged, 2.5 hectares of fruit trees were 40-50% damaged and 1.5 hectares of vegetables were completely lost. In addition, more than 8,000 hectares were likely to be affected.
Faced with the situation of rapidly rising flood water levels, in some communes in the Dong Thap Muoi region where rice fields are threatened, the People's Committees of the communes proactively arranged forces and coordinated with the people to reinforce the dikes against floods.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment organized inspection teams to coordinate with localities to inspect and assess flood damage; at the same time, requested the People's Committees of communes and wards in the Dong Thap Muoi region to urgently deploy flood response plans, ready to mobilize forces, means and materials on the spot to promptly handle the situation.
In addition, check, review and specifically determine the locations of weak enclosures and embankments that are at risk of incidents; clearly understand the number of households living in areas that are likely to be affected by floods, agricultural production areas outside enclosures and embankments, and areas with unclosed embankments and low embankments that do not ensure flood protection capacity to proactively have timely response solutions.

Localities in the Dong Thap Muoi region of the province focus on reinforcing dikes to protect rice fields.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment has sent an official dispatch to the Provincial People's Committee requesting the Department to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of communes to urgently handle and reinforce dikes at vulnerable locations that do not ensure flood protection to protect rice production areas in communes in the Dong Thap Muoi region (23 dike routes, over 105km long).
Organize reinforcement and elevation of weak dykes and embankments, especially low-lying areas, especially areas where the 2025 Autumn-Winter rice crop has not yet been harvested, fruit and vegetable areas to ensure production safety, proactively deploy drainage plans to prevent flooding.
Strengthen communication work, disseminate information about the flood situation in the fields on mass media so that people can proactively take precautions to ensure safety in production, minimizing damage caused by floods in the coming time, especially when there is heavy rain combined with high tides./.
