The Government has requested the Ministry of Education and Training to soon research and announce the high school graduation exam plan from 2025.

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a notice of the conclusion of Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son at a meeting on the draft plan for high school graduation exams from 2025.

Accordingly, the Minister assigned the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) to preside over the completion of the draft plan for organizing the graduation exam from 2025, and at the same time, continue to seek written opinions from 63 Departments of Education and Training to have more basis to complete the draft and submit it to the Ministry's leaders for submission to the Government Standing Committee for consideration and permission to announce the plan for organizing the high school graduation exam from 2025 (expected in September).

The plan to organize the high school graduation exam from 2025 retains the purpose and meaning of the high school graduation exam as stated in the draft published on the Ministry of Education and Training's electronic information portal to collect public opinions; effectively implement decentralization and responsibility in organizing the exam; research to organize the annual exam at an earlier time than at present.

Organize exams by subject, including compulsory subjects and optional subjects in the 2018 General Education Program: Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology. Research and clearly explain the legal basis, practical basis, new points and main difficulties and problems in implementation to consider and select the number of exam subjects of the exam plan.

Regarding the exam format, Literature is an essay test; the remaining subjects are multiple choice. The exam content closely follows the requirements for the main competencies and knowledge of grade 12 in the 2018 GeneralEducation Program. There is a suitable roadmap to increase the content of competency assessment each year in accordance with the study time of students according to the 2018 General Education Program. The graduation assessment method is a combination of the results of the process assessment and the graduation exam results.

The Minister also requested the establishment of a steering committee to implement the plan to organize the high school graduation exam from 2025 with members from relevant units, assigning specific tasks to carry out the tasks; develop a project and plan to implement the high school graduation exam plan from 2025 according to the roadmap from now to 2030; research and develop exam question formats suitable for the 2018 General Education Program.
