Support for schools affected by storms and floods in Lang Son

On October 22, a working delegation from the Ministry of Education and Training led by Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong visited and supported educational institutions that suffered heavy damage due to the impact of storm No. 11 in Lang Son province.

The working delegation visited and supported Yen Binh Kindergarten, Yen Binh Primary School, Yen Binh Secondary School, Yen Binh Commune, Lang Son Province. Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong shared: The two storms No. 10 and 11 caused heavy damage to the people, including the education sector in the localities with thousands of schools damaged and equipment damaged. Sharing the difficulties with the people and the education sector in the localities, the Ministry of Education and Training also mobilized contributions from individuals and organizations, joining hands to overcome the consequences caused by natural disasters and storms and floods. In Lang Son Province alone, the Ministry of Education and Training and other units donated 4.35 billion VND to support the education sector to overcome the consequences.

Reporting to the working group, Principal of Yen Binh Primary School Phan Thi Hoa said: Yen Binh Primary School has a total of 20 classrooms, 537 students, has 3 school locations including: main school, Dong Xa school and Dong La school. When the flood appeared at night and rose very quickly, the water level in the school was about 2.5-3.5m.

At the main school, Dong Xa school had all its classrooms flooded. The entire principal's office, the office, all the machinery, equipment, utensils and all the school's documents were submerged in water and mud for many days, causing serious damage. Dong La school was slightly affected by heavy rain. The total damage is estimated at over 2 billion VND.

School officials, teachers, staff, parents and support forces urgently carried out cleaning, sanitation and overcoming the consequences of the storm and flood. The school also encouraged officials, teachers and staff affected by storm and flood; organized visits and encouraged families of students who suffered heavy losses. On October 16, 2025, the school organized for students to return to school. Boarding activities for students were organized from October 20, 2025. Up to this point, 100% of the school's students have enough textbooks, notebooks, supplies, school bags, clothes and personal belongings to ensure their studies.

Mr. Vu Van Thinh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yen Binh Commune, said: The consequences of storm No. 11 have greatly affected the lives of people in Yen Binh Commune, but the commune has received timely support from all levels and sectors, including the Ministry of Education and Training. These are not only valuable material gifts but also a great source of encouragement for teachers, students and people to ensure the quality of teaching and learning in the area.
