I accept the truth
Sharing on Nguyen Khang's talk show, Thanh Bui said that this is the right time for him to gradually return to the audience. Thanh Bui explained that it was not that he did not appear, but because he had no reason or new story to share before. He no longer had the emotions to talk about the story of Where to Go or Silent Love .
Regarding the incident after his wife got into trouble with the law, Thanh Bui said he did not face any pressure from those around him.
“During this time, I have felt the special affection that everyone has for me. When meeting, friends and relatives all say: 'Share with Thanh'. In fact, no one has any negative words or attitudes. Feeling that, I tell myself to just live truthfully, speak truthfully, and be myself, then everything will gradually be okay,” Thanh Bui expressed.
According to Thanh Bui, the fastest way to overcome a crisis is to accept everything that is happening.
“When you accept, you feel all the pain, all the hardship, and how hard the road is. You will have a choice: take the easy road or take the right but difficult road,” he said.
Thanh Bui tells the story to demonstrate how the family's tragedy has spread to a global level.
Once, he went abroad and was asked: “Do you know what is happening in Vietnam?”. He said: “Yes, I know.” Thanh Bui believes that his family’s story has gone global.
“Through challenges, I truly understand myself. Those challenges show whether I am truly strong in my thinking and reasoning. I cannot replace the love a mother has for her children. I only try to create an environment for them to work and live together. I think my two children have had the luckiest life possible in this situation. I believe that through hardship and experience, two extremely profound people will be created. This is a huge challenge and I choose to continue on this path, step by step,” he added.
Musician Thanh Bui's wife is businesswoman Truong Hue Van, niece of Truong My Lan, Chairwoman of Van Thinh Phat Group. Since 2022, she has been tried by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court for business violations.
'I have no regrets'
During the conversation, Thanh Bui shared about his 8-year hiatus from artistic activities.
“In 2016, I sat next to the Korean band BTS at the Grammy Awards, it was my dream to sit in the same room with all my idols. At that time, my children were only a few months old. I really had to choose between being a father and continuing my music career. If I pursued my dream, I would have to go out continuously for a long time, which was not suitable for my situation at that time. I decided to take a break to fulfill my responsibility as a father. After all, I have been in the profession since I was 17 years old. I have no regrets. I am only 41 years old now, I can return to music later,” Thanh Bui said.
Thanh Bui said he has been back in Vietnam for 14 years and has witnessed the dramatic changes in the music market. He feels warm when recalling the time when he was an artist and performed on stage.
“I will never forget the feeling of anxiety about my ability to speak Vietnamese to communicate with the audience on stage. Especially after the show The Voice Kids, I received a lot of love from everyone, from the banh bo seller to the taxi driver. I will always remember it,” he said.
According to Thanh Bui, a normal day for him now is taking his children to school and then returning to his work of managing the school and building an ecosystem within hiseducation system.
At this time, Thanh Bui focuses almost all of his time on education. In addition, he works in the arts through an artist management company.
“Artists today are very different from previous generations. They write their own music, produce their own music, sing in English very well and have a clear and profound musical mindset. I see my dream of bringing foreign art to Vietnam and bringing Vietnam to the world is developing strongly but still has a long way to go,” he commented.
Speaking more about the decision to build an educational system with its own direction, Thanh Bui said it came from his own story, especially after his twins were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
He shared that he and some education experts patiently helped the children overcome step by step. From there, he wanted to contribute to training and promoting the comprehensive development of young people, especially autistic children.
“I don’t think I’m doing anything big, my goal is simply to see my children have the opportunity to be recognized by society as normal, eliminating all discrimination. If I don’t wake up tomorrow or only have a few breaths left, I can tell myself that I lived my life to the fullest and was lucky to pursue my passion. If you ask me which field I love the most, it’s education,” he emphasized.
