Ho Chi Minh City: People tend to travel domestically in the summer

Familiar domestic beach destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Vung Tau, Quang Binh and Thanh Hoa still maintain strong appeal and are receiving much attention and advice from tourists.

In Ho Chi Minh City in the last days of May, the tourism market began to bustle with the launch of the 2025 Summer tour and many people tend to travel domestically.

The tourism and travel business community forecasts that people's demand for travel will remain high, combined with a strong stimulus program that promises an explosive and fruitful summer.

Talking to VNA reporters, Ms. Thai Nguyen (Binh Thanh District) shared that this year her family took advantage of organizing a trip early to limit weather risks. The family prioritized short-term tours so that the children could return to their hometown to be with their grandparents for a few weeks before returning to summer school.

Mr. Anh Duc (Thu Duc city) said that International Children's Day June 1 this year falls on a weekend and the children are on summer vacation, so the family booked a tour that combines relaxation with entertainment, ensuring it is suitable for many family members.

In the 2025 summer travel season, domestic tourism with green and sustainable experiences, especially personalized journeys that meet the emotional needs of enjoying vacations with family, relatives, friends, etc., will be popular. In addition, many people are increasingly inclined to explore the culture of destinations, enjoy local cuisine and immerse themselves in nature.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Summer 2025 Travel Forecast shows that 71% of travelers say they prioritize choosing destinations that are environmentally friendly and committed to sustainable development; 76% of travelers want their trips to positively contribute to the local community. Destinations with pristine nature, combining resort experiences with exploring local culture and cuisine are increasingly attracting more tourists.

Digital travel platform Agoda (Agoda) has announced a list of ideal Asian destinations for those who love "slow travel." Nha Trang tops the list of destinations in Vietnam as a place where visitors can enjoy a leisurely pace of life, with clear blue sea water and white sand beaches. Not stopping there, with a variety of experiences from exploring the ancient Ponagar tower to relaxing with mineral mud treatments, Nha Trang has become an interesting stopover for domestic and foreign tourists.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, said that slow travel is like a "reset" button that changes the way tourists explore the world, encouraging them to temporarily put aside the hustle and bustle of life to immerse themselves and deeply feel the beauty of each destination...

A representative of Viet Tourism Media Joint Stock Company (Viet Tourism) said that the number of domestic tourists this summer could grow impressively, estimated to increase by 15-20% compared to the same period in 2024. Diverse tourism needs, from cozy family trips, corporate team-building activities... to relaxing resort tours are increasingly popular. In addition, island destinations, modern entertainment areas and cool resorts will still be the top priorities of tourists this summer.

Quick statistics from the branch system and partners of Viet Tourism nationwide, familiar domestic destinations with beaches such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Vung Tau, Quang Binh and Thanh Hoa still maintain strong attraction and are receiving much attention and advice from tourists.

Mountainous destinations with cool climates such as Da Lat, Sa Pa, Moc Chau and Ha Giang are also ideal choices to avoid the heat.

Notably, the trend of choosing eco-resorts and homestays near big cities is also increasing, especially for groups of young people.

For foreign tourism, short trips to Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia are expected to still attract a large number of tourists thanks to the diversity of experiences (sea, landscapes, shopping, cuisine) and convenience in terms of time and cost... On the other hand, destinations with more pleasant climates in the summer such as Korea, Japan and some European countries also receive great attention.

In the context of the peak tourist season, online fraud tends to increase, management agencies and tourism and travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City recommend that people be cautious with bad guys who often take advantage of subjectivity and high demand for travel to carry out sophisticated fraud, through many forms such as unusually cheap tours, baseless visa commitments, fake airline/train tickets, virtual hotel bookings and impersonating reputable travel company brands.

In particular, people need to be vigilant, only book services through the company's official channels, carefully check information and contracts, stay away from unrealistic offers, and absolutely do not provide sensitive personal information to unreliable sources.
