Rules of the Writing Contest "Youth and I"

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the first issue (January 3, 1986 - January 3, 2026), Thanh Nien Newspaper organizes the writing contest "Thanh Nien and I" to express gratitude to readers who have been with the newspaper for the past four decades.

The contest is an opportunity for readers at home and abroad to share their memories, emotions, and stories about their connection and attachment to Thanh Nien ; about impressive journalistic works, characters in articles, or newspaper activities that have inspired and positively impacted their lives, careers, and perceptions; to honor the values ​​of "Generosity - Kindness - Humanity - Trust"; the spirit of dedication, the desire to contribute, etc., which are the identity of Thanh Nien .

All Vietnamese citizens living in Vietnam and abroad, foreigners living in Vietnam (members of the jury, officers, reporters, editors of Thanh Nien Newspaper; officers, employees of sponsoring units are not allowed to participate in the contest).

Each author (individual, organization, business) can submit multiple entries (unlimited number).

- Memories and stories between readers and Thanh Nien Newspaper (through the newspaper, articles, journalists...);

- Recounting lives that changed in a positive direction thanks to Thanh Nien Newspaper;

- Impressions of volunteer activities, competitions, sports tournaments, and community service programs of Thanh Nien Newspaper;

- Impressions of Thanh Nien Newspaper's articles, columns, characters, and programs that have inspired and positively influenced the writer's life and perception;

- The image of Thanh Nien Newspaper employees is dynamic, humane, creative, and dedicated to the community;

- The role of Thanh Nien Newspaper in arousing the spirit, will and aspirations of Vietnamese youth, the great national unity bloc...

- Impressions and feelings about Thanh Nien Newspaper's contributions in policy communication, reflection, orientation, social criticism, education of the young generation...

- Entries must be written in Vietnamese, in the form of essays, memoirs, travelogues, notes, reports, letters to newspapers..., each article must have a minimum of 600 words and a maximum of 1,000 words; it is encouraged to attach images and videos related to the content mentioned in the article, or illustrative images and videos of the author himself;

- Entries must be new works, unused, not published in any media or publications, not posted on websites, blogs, social networking sites such as: Facebook, Twitter, TikTok... of organizations and individuals;

- Entries cannot be published in the author's own books or in any other anthologies until the end of the contest;

- Entries can be typed or handwritten clearly on A4 paper; use clear language, in accordance with good customs and traditions, and not violate Vietnamese law;

- Contest entries sent to Thanh Nien Newspaper must clearly state: author's full name, pen name (if any), year of birth, gender, occupation, contact address or email, phone number, ID card, bank account number. Each author can submit multiple entries, but must have a consistent full name or pen name.

Preliminary round:

• Contest entries must have content and format according to the requirements of the Organizing Committee.

Final round:

• Based on the works in the preliminary round, the jury members will score, the Organizing Committee will summarize the scores of the jury members for each work to announce the awards. The awards are based on the scoring results according to the prescribed scale, from high to low.

- From the announcement of the contest 17.11.2025 to 17.12.2025 (according to the time shown on the email or postmark).

- The works that make it to the preliminary round will be used by Thanh Nien Newspaper to publish on Thanh Nien Newspaper's publications and ecosystem (printed newspapers, electronic newspapers, social networks, etc.). Authors whose articles are published will receive royalties according to the newspaper's regulations. When posting, the Organizing Committee has the right to edit and process information about the entries in accordance with Thanh Nien Newspaper's information standards and the provisions of the Press Law;

- The contest organizing committee includes members of the Editorial Board and representatives of departments and functional divisions of Thanh Nien Newspaper, headed by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper.

- The Jury consists of prestigious managers, writers and journalists.

- Contestants commit to take responsibility for the authenticity of the information and images submitted; ensure that there are no disputes or complaints related to their information and images. In case the awarded work is later found to have violated copyright, the Organizing Committee will consider revoking the award and widely announce it on the mass media.

- Entries that violate the contest rules will be removed without prior notice.

- The organizer is not responsible if the entry is lost during the process of sending to the organizer.

- The organizer is not responsible for contestants providing incorrect personal information, leading to uncontactability.

- The Organizing Committee will not return the entries to the contest under any circumstances and reserves the right to use the winning entries for promotional activities without having to pay any fees.

- The prize winner is responsible for paying personal income tax according to the law at the time of receiving the prize.

- The winner is responsible for notifying the Organizing Committee of his/her ability to attend the Award Ceremony so that the Organizing Committee can prepare the award. In case the winner does not attend the Award Ceremony, the cash prize will be transferred according to the information and documents provided by the winner. The prize in kind will be sent by registered mail according to the information provided by the winner and cannot be converted into cash. The Organizing Committee is not responsible for the loss or damage of the prize in kind during transportation.

- The Organizing Committee will only resolve all complaints about the contest results within 5 days from the date of announcement of the results.

- The decision of the Organizing Committee is final.
