According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , from July 16 to 5:00 p.m. on July 28, 2025, candidates nationwide will officially enter the stage of registration, adjustment and supplementation of university and college admission wishes.
Registration is done entirely online on the Admissions System or the National Public Service Portal, using the assigned personal account.
Choosing your aspirations requires strategy.
MSc. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung - Deputy Head of Admissions and Corporate Relations Department, University of Finance - Marketing recommends that candidates pay special attention because this year there is no more early admission.
All admission methods, including considering academic records, foreign language certificates or competency assessments... must be registered through the common system of the Ministry of Education and Training during the above-mentioned period. If this step is skipped, even if the candidate meets the requirements, he/she will not be considered for admission.

In addition, one of the common mistakes is confusing the school code, major code or major name. "For example, the University of Finance and Marketing has the abbreviation UFM, but the school code on the system is DMS. If these two names are confused, candidates may choose the wrong school," Ms. Phung cited.
In addition, for the same major, each program (standard, integrated, English, etc.) will have a different code. Candidates need to carefully review the information on the system to avoid confusion and loss of opportunities.
Another new point, in this year's system, candidates do not need to choose an admission method or combination.
Schools automatically consider all methods for which candidates are eligible and prioritize the most beneficial method or combination. Therefore, candidates need to prepare full information and demonstrate the correct requirements for each method.
MSc. Phung also noted the strategy for choosing wishes: "Many students register too many wishes, such as 30, 40, or even 50 wishes, but are not clear about what they want. This only makes them more confused.
Instead, candidates should divide their wishes into 2 groups: 1-2 wishes higher than their actual scores to nurture their dreams; 3-4 wishes equivalent to their current abilities and 2-3 wishes with a standard score 1 to 1.5 points lower as a backup plan."

More importantly, candidates need to arrange their preferences in a reasonable order. Once they are admitted to their second preference, their third, fourth, fifth preferences will no longer be considered.
“Many students, because they are afraid of not passing, put their favorite major down, and when they get enough points, they regret not being able to change their wishes. Therefore, take the time to think carefully, list the majors and schools you really want to study, arrange them in order of priority and do not register for too many, 10 wishes are enough,” shared Master Phung.
Finally, to avoid errors when operating the system, candidates should carefully watch the instruction clips of the Ministry of Education and Training, review personal data, study information and take careful notes in a notebook.
With a clear strategy, proactive mindset and careful preparation, candidates can completely turn the application period into a solid stepping stone for their journey to university.
Register, adjust, and add admission wishes
According to instructions from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, after completing the registration of wishes, candidates need to pay the admission fee according to the number of wishes using the high school graduation exam results. The time to pay the fee is from July 29 to 5:00 p.m. on August 5.
Universities and colleges will announce admission results before 5:00 p.m. on August 22. Candidates can look up the results at the Ministry of Education and Training's Admissions Portal or the universities' Admissions Information Portal.
After receiving the admission results, candidates must confirm their admission online on the Ministry of Education and Training system before 5:00 p.m. on August 30, 2025. If they do not confirm their admission on time, their admission results will be canceled.

The new point in considering high school transcripts is that the learning results must be based on the entire 12th grade year, instead of only using semester 1 or semester 2 as before. Universities are allowed to use many subject combinations for each major, no longer limited to a maximum of 4 combinations as in previous years.
Another notable change is the regulation to make score conversion transparent. Schools must publicly disclose the method of converting scores from transcripts, foreign language certificates (such as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT...) to a common scale for fair comparison with high school graduation exam scores. Regional or subject priority points must not exceed 3 points (equivalent to 10% of the scale), to ensure fairness among candidates.
In the admission score combination, Math or Literature must account for at least 25% of the total weight. This is a mandatory criterion for all admission methods, to increase quantification and reduce virtual score deviation.
All applications, regardless of the admission method (high school graduation exam, transcript, capacity assessment...), must be registered through the common system of the Ministry of Education and Training within the prescribed time. Direct registration at the school without registering on the system will not be considered for admission.
Admissions experts from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade also especially reminded candidates to avoid mistakes that can easily lead to losing the opportunity to be admitted, including: forgetting to register their wishes on the common system, not having time to correct incorrect academic records, submitting foreign language or competency certificates late or in the wrong format, misunderstanding how to convert points leading to choosing the wrong wish, or choosing a major that is not suitable for health conditions or input requirements of the major...
In addition, many candidates subjectively do not check their wishes carefully before the deadline, leading to not being able to adjust after the system is locked.
The Ministry of Education and Training notes that wishes must be registered according to the training major/program, arranged in order of priority from wish 1 onwards (wish 1 is the highest).
Candidates can adjust and add an unlimited number of wishes within the prescribed time, and must provide full evidence corresponding to each admission method according to the requirements of the training institutions.
All applications will be processed on the system, each candidate will only be recognized as admitted to the highest application.
