At the end of the Literature exam of the high school entrance exam on the morning of June 2, many candidates in Da Nang smiled and commented that the Literature exam was quite easy to swallow and very close to reality.

The Literature test has two parts: Reading and Writing. The reading part quotes the poem "Talking to my child at the end of the year" by author Luu Quang Vu. The test requires candidates to identify the topic of the text; comment on the change in the father's emotions; present the effect of using the phrase "across the river"; express thoughts on a lesson learned from the text...
The Writing section requires candidates to write a paragraph of about 200 words analyzing the poem: I whisper in a strong breath / The river is so wide, how can I cross? / I hold you in my arms, my little child / On the other side of the river there are many butterflies and flowers / then we will find a boat to go to the other side.
The last question is quite interesting. Candidates, using personal experience, write an essay (about 600 words) presenting what young people need to do to convince their parents to trust and accompany them on the path to achieving good things in the future.

Many candidates assessed that this year’s exam had a strong family element when quoting the poem “Talking to my child at the end of the year”, conveying the realities, confidences, feelings and wishes of a father for his child. The discussion section also mentioned family, specifically the trust and companionship of parents towards their children.
“To make parents trust and accompany you, you must first believe in yourself, improve yourself, study better, affirm what you can do, and prove that your choices are right. From there, your parents will trust you more, and it will be easier to convince them to accompany you,” Duc Khai (Ly Thuong Kiet Secondary School) shared.
Mr. Khoa (Nguyen Hue Secondary School) sees this as a very practical and close thing in life that he or any friend has to face. Khoa is confident that he will get a score of 8 or higher on this year's Literature exam.

Many other candidates also commented that the Literature test did not have any tricky questions, was very practical, and easy to cite. Even if you are not good at Literature, you can still get a 7 if you have basic knowledge.
Teacher Nguyen Dinh Hoa (Head of Literature Group, Tran Phu High School) shared that the poem "Talking to my child at the end of the year" by author Luu Quang Vu is a good work, with many profound meanings about family affection, about the father's reflections before the war, before the maturity of his child with profound philosophies. According to him, the reading comprehension questions are not too difficult but not so easy that they can be answered just by looking at them. Students must have a fairly solid knowledge of Literature along with reflections about family affection, about war, about life to be able to answer fully to get the perfect score.
The teacher assessed that the essay writing part was quite good and close to the students. This is also the biggest problem for students of their age. With this year's Literature exam, the teacher said that the average score was around 7 points.

This afternoon, candidates will take the second exam – Foreign Language, with a duration of 60 minutes. This year, Da Nang has 11,854 candidates registered to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools. The quota for public high schools is 10,296 students, and the quota for the continuingeducation system is 714 students.
