At the National Economics University's admissions consultation session on May 25, many candidates and parents were concerned about how to convert equivalent scores between admission methods this year. In response to these questions, Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the National Economics University's Training Management Department, said that in 2025, regardless of the method candidates register, the admission scores must be converted to the same 30-point scale, after which the school will take the highest score to consider admission equally and fairly among all candidates.

“Thus, candidates with many characteristics such as having both an international English certificate IELTS and a test score of Hanoi National University must be converted to a 30-point scale. When considering admission, the system will only use the highest score for consideration,” said Mr. Duc.

Regarding the equivalent conversion table, according to Dr. Le Anh Duc, the Ministry of Education and Training only provides the conversion framework, schools will use that as a basis to build their own conversion table.

Therefore, the National Economics University will rely on the conversion framework of the Ministry of Education and Training as a whole. In addition, the school must also rely on other data such as the learning results of many subjects admitted to the school in recent years, with reference and based on the score distribution information that the Ministry of Education and Training announced on high school graduation exam scores and score distribution of this year's competency assessment and thinking assessment exams.

“For example, the school must look at how your academic results were in the past years when you used a 100-point competency assessment test score or how your academic results were when you scored 28 points on the high school graduation exam, from which there is a basis for building a conversion table. It cannot be said that you scored 100 points on the competency assessment test equivalent to you scoring 28 points on the high school graduation exam, while the average results of the two of you are not equivalent.

"Equivalent here must be understood in the sense of equivalent in terms of learning ability, not equivalent in terms of numerical conversion, so there must be a basis and basis for giving the conversion coefficient," said Mr. Duc.

Mr. Duc "revealed" that recently, the National Economics University has conducted a survey on the academic results of admitted students in the past 3 years and found that, at the same level, candidates with the results of the Hanoi National University's competency assessment test combined with an English certificate have better academic results than students admitted by other admission methods.

“Currently, the National Economics University has calculated the percentile values, but they are mainly based on the results of the high school graduation exam, capacity assessment test, and thinking test from 2024 and earlier, so they are not valid this year,” said Mr. Duc.

Giving advice to candidates, Mr. Duc said that candidates do not need to be too concerned about the conversion. The changes to the regulations this year are basically aimed at creating favorable conditions for candidates in the admission process. Regardless of the equivalent conversion rules, candidates with good abilities will certainly have many opportunities to be admitted to the school.

Mr. Duc said that it is expected that before 5:00 p.m. on July 23, the National Economics University will announce the method of converting admission scores this year.

National Economics University recruits candidates with IELTS from 5.5 Candidates with IELTS from 5.5 can apply in combination with the 2025 high school graduation exam scores or the scores of the competency assessment exam and thinking assessment to enter the National Economics University.
