Floods on rivers and inundation in low-lying areas affect activities such as water transport, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives and socio-economic activities.

Risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and coastal areas in the North and Southeast

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, water levels along the Northern coast are high and tend to rise slowly. The highest water level at Hon Dau is forecast to reach 4.15m.

Low-lying coastal areas, riverside areas, and areas outside the dike are likely to be flooded for 5-7 hours every day. High tides will slow down the flood drainage process on the river system in the area. In the morning, it is necessary to be wary of strong offshore currents when the tide recedes, which is dangerous for maritime activities and sea tourism, especially at ports and beaches.

For the Southeast coastal area, it is forecasted that from November 8 to 9, the highest water level in this area at Vung Tau station is likely to reach 4.10 - 4.15m, with peak tides occurring from 2-4 hours and 16-18 hours.

It is forecasted that from November 10 to 11, the highest water level of the day in the eastern coast of the South will tend to decrease slowly, the highest tide of the day at Vung Tau station is likely to reach 4 - 4.05m.

Hydrometeorological experts note that this is a high tide period, the eastern coastal area of the South needs to pay attention to prevent high risks of flooding, dike overflow in low-lying coastal areas, riverside areas, outside the dike affecting traffic, agricultural production, aquaculture, water pollution and people's lives in the eastern coastal area of the South.
