Valedictorian of University of Technology with 29.75 points reveals secret: "I failed"

(Dan Tri) - Lam Minh Huy, valedictorian of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said he had faced failures. The male student determined that this was not scary, the important thing was knowing how to stand up.

With a score of 29.75 in block A00 (math 10, physics 10, chemistry 9.75) in the high school graduation exam, Lam Minh Huy has become one of the outstanding faces when he won the national runner-up position in block A00, and is also the valedictorian of Dak Lak province, one of the four valedictorians entering the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

In addition, Huy also achieved a high score in the competency assessment exam by Ho Chi Minh City National University with a score of 1,101/1,200.

Such achievements are not only the result of intelligence but also a testament to perseverance, discipline and determination in pursuing goals.

"Failure" is not the end

Few people know that, before achieving excellent results, the former student of Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted (Dak Lak) also experienced many failures.

"I don't always get the results I want. There are exams I failed right after taking, but I consider that a lesson to learn for next time," Huy said.

The male student added that although he was quite dim in middle school, when he studied and trained in a good environment in high school, he progressed much faster.

Huy remembers most of all the time he took the physics test for his high school graduation. Although he was very confident, the result of only 7.75 points left him completely disappointed and shocked.

"After that shock, I re-studied my study methods and realized that I had not really understood the theoretical knowledge deeply. I decided to review all the content in the textbook. This was also a lesson that helped me improve my scores a lot later on," Huy shared.

That failure did not discourage Huy but became the motivation for him to find a more effective learning method.

Create motivation from small goals

For Huy, success comes from having clear goals and a suitable roadmap from the beginning.

“During three years of high school, I had a clear goal and roadmap as well as a suitable learning method. If I persevere every day, I will gradually achieve worthy results,” Huy confided.

For Huy, having goals is the key to maintaining discipline. Those goals don't need to be big, they should be divided into smaller ones and have a specific plan to achieve them step by step.

However, Huy did not choose to study day and night, but only maintained his study schedule in class, combined with extra classes. Even Huy's final exam review period only began after Tet.

However, Huy is still confident that he can conquer the exam with high results because starting late is not a disadvantage because Huy already has a foundation from 3 years of high school.

Huy believes that a relaxed mindset is the key to maintaining his form in the exam room. He rarely feels pressured and always takes time to relax and recharge. In his free time, he studies at home, spends a lot of time reinforcing theory, and searches for questions online for further practice.

Besides studying, the male valedictorian always takes reasonable time to rest, considering it an important factor to reduce pressure and regenerate energy before returning to school.

In addition, the support of family, teachers and friends is also an important factor that helps Huy achieve the results he has today.

“During my studies, I was not alone, but always had my parents and teachers with me. In addition, my classmates were very good, so they helped me a lot in my studies,” the valedictorian shared.

Huy recognizes that to achieve success, no factor is small.

“If you don’t have a good learning environment, it’s hard to progress quickly, and if you don’t have the right learning method, you can’t maintain it for long. Every single factor will contribute to a great success,” Huy affirmed.

Not resting on his laurels, Huy always reminds himself: "Even if you have achieved the expected results, you should still continue to try and persevere every day so as not to be left behind."

Huy nurtured the desire to conquer knowledge at university level and was determined to pursue his dream of studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
