Goalkeeper 'gives gift' to opponent, Thai Olympic team eliminated from ASIAD 19

In the second half, the West Asian representative completely dominated the match. Although they did not attack aggressively, the Iranian players did not give Thailand many opportunities to control the ball. With the match almost decided, Iran scored the decisive goal in the 82nd minute.

A mistake by a Thai defender forced goalkeeper Lakhonphon Nopphon to foul an Iranian player in the penalty area and Iran was awarded a penalty. From the 11m mark, Yasin Salmani easily scored, ending an easy victory for Iran.

With this result, Olympic Thailand was eliminated in the round of 16 while Olympic Iran advanced to the quarterfinals of ASIAD 19. In the remaining early match of the round of 16, North Korea easily beat Bahrain 2-0 thanks to goals from Kang Kuk Chol and Kim Kuk Bom.
