In a nationally televised address on Wednesday (November 12), Mr. al-Sudani asserted that his Union for Reconstruction and Development had come in first and “will continue to hold this position” when discussions on forming a government begin.

Prime Minister al-Sudani pledged that any government formed under his leadership would "serve all Iraqis and protect the interests of everyone, including those who chose to boycott the vote." Emphasizing national unity, he declared that "Iraq belongs to everyone and will always remain so," signaling his intention to pursue a broad and inclusive government.
Preliminary results released by Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) confirmed that the Prime Minister's coalition won 411,026 votes in the capital Baghdad, creating a solid foundation for negotiations to form a government.
Voter turnout nationwide reached 56.11 percent, reflecting a moderate level of participation in the democratic process amid challenging political and security circumstances in the conflict-torn Middle Eastern country.
