Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: Strive to have 3,000 km of expressway nationwide by 2025

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said: The implementation of important national projects and works,   The key transport sector has achieved some results.   The Head of the Steering Committee commended the initiative of the Steering Committee members, ministries, branches and localities for their efforts in the implementation process. At the same time, he emphasized: the works and projects are important to the country and localities, so the members attending the meeting focused on raising difficulties in the implementation process; reviewing the works and tasks, proposing solutions to remove difficulties so that the project implementation is effective, of high quality, creating space for development, promoting regional connectivity, bringing convenience to the people, as well as striving to complete the goal of having 3,000 km of expressways nationwide by 2025.

According to the Steering Committee's report, up to now, the projects under the Steering Committee include 37 projects/95 component projects, including 35 projects in the road sector and 2 projects in the aviation sector. The Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee, has directly inspected the site many times, worked with localities to direct the removal of difficulties and obstacles, and urged the progress of the projects. Ministries, branches and localities have made efforts to implement the assigned tasks, so far many difficulties and obstacles have been removed, the progress of the projects has clearly changed. Currently, 16 expressways have been completed and put into operation, increasing the total number of expressways nationwide from 1,327 km to 2,268 km.

At the 16th meeting on March 9, 2025, the Prime Minister assigned 33 tasks to ministries, branches and localities, focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles, speeding up investment preparation procedures for projects; to date, units have completed 26 tasks on time.
