According to the Decision approved by the Prime Minister, the general goal by 2030 is that Tien Giang will basically become an industrial province with a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, dynamic regions, economic centers of industry, tourism, marine economy and urban areas. It is a province that plays an important connecting role between the Mekong Delta with Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region. National defense, security and social order and safety are guaranteed.
To achieve this goal, the Plan sets out many specific targets for the 2021 - 2030 period. In particular, the economic growth rate (GRDP) reaches 7.0 - 8.0%/year. The proportion of industry - construction in GRDP accounts for 41.5 - 43.5%; services account for 29.5 - 30.0%; agriculture, forestry and fishery account for 21.5 - 23.5%. Total budget revenue increases by an average of 9 - 10%/year. By 2030, the province strives to balance its own budget revenue and expenditure. The urbanization rate reaches 45 - 47%.

The planning has oriented and prioritized the development of Tien Giang with “one strip, three centers, four economic corridors, three development breakthroughs”. Of which, there is a strip along the Tien River. The three centers are My Tho city, Chau Thanh district and Cho Gao. The four economic corridors include: Economic corridor along the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway; economic corridor along National Highway 1, National Highway 50B; economic corridor along the coastal road and National Highway 50; economic corridor along the Tien River connecting urban - industrial areas with the Mekong Delta. The three development breakthroughs are infrastructure, administrative reform, improvement of investment environment and human resources.
At the Conference, Tien Giang province introduced its geographical location; revolutionary historical and cultural traditions; potentials, advantages, and development orientations. The province announced a list of 40 projects calling for investment in the following areas: urban and residential development; trade, services, tourism; industry; infrastructure for health, education, culture, environment; agriculture, with a total investment of nearly 53,000 billion VND. These projects will concretize the Planning, promoting the socio-economic development of Tien Giang.
In particular, Tien Giang granted investment approval decisions and investment registration certificates to 14 projects with a total capital of nearly VND 17,000 billion; and granted investment research decisions to 10 other projects with a total capital of about VND 37,000 billion.
Speaking at the conference, the Prime Minister clearly analyzed the position, role, importance, viewpoints, and tasks of planning work, and the situation of planning development in the whole country. At the same time, he emphasized that planning development and approval is an important step, which must be implemented well according to the plan, ensuring stability and minimizing unnecessary adjustments. "Implementing good planning will be the compass for rapid, sustainable, and comprehensive development," the Prime Minister emphasized.
Tien Giang province's planning has been carefully, systematically and scientifically prepared; on the basis of promoting distinct potentials, outstanding opportunities, competitive advantages, overcoming shortcomings and limitations. The planning has provided viewpoints, visions, key development goals, development breakthroughs; development plans, solutions, and resources for implementation in the coming time. The planning opens up a new direction and development space for Tien Giang in the overall picture of the whole country.
The Prime Minister was particularly impressed with the planning that has oriented and prioritized the development of Tien Giang with "1 focus, 2 enhancements, 3 promotion". In which:
One focus is: mobilizing and using all legal resources to promote traditional growth drivers such as export, investment, and consumption; breaking through to new growth drivers such as digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge economy, and combating climate change.
The two enhancements include: enhancing human factor development towards improving people's knowledge, nurturing talents, improving human resource quality, ensuring social security, leaving no one behind; enhancing regional, area and international connectivity, through traffic connectivity, production chain and supply chain connectivity.
The three priorities are: promoting the construction of strategic, comprehensive, synchronous and inclusive infrastructure (transportation, healthcare, education, social security); promoting industrial development, serving processing and manufacturing, especially agricultural products with strengths; promoting the application of science and technology, innovation in the 4th industrial revolution in production and business, creating jobs, creating livelihoods for people, creating stability and development...
The Prime Minister informed about the country's development foundation after nearly 40 years of renovation; lessons learned and orientation of modern growth model which is digital transformation and green growth. At the same time, he affirmed that this is an inevitable trend, the goal of every country and Tien Giang must change its growth model according to this trend...
Enterprises promote their mission in the spirit of "three together"
The Prime Minister requested Tien Giang to ensure compliance and synchronization in the organization and implementation of the planning; in accordance with the national master plan, regional planning, and sectoral planning. The long-term vision is associated with the overall development orientation, regional linkage, promoting potential and advantages, strongly developing the socio-economy, protecting the environment and adapting to climate change.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Tien Giang must always innovate its development thinking, exploit its internal resources to the maximum, promote its historical and cultural traditions; promote public-private cooperation, use public investment to lead private investment, and effectively utilize all development resources. The province focuses on investing in strategic infrastructure, especially completing transport infrastructure and urban development to exploit its central location in the Mekong Delta with a road system connecting the entire region.
Tien Giang focuses on building and effectively promoting economic dynamic zones; prioritizing the allocation of resources to synchronously and effectively implement development space. The province focuses on developing marine economy, agricultural economy, tourism in the direction of green economy, digital economy, circular economy associated with potential, strengths, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages. Along with that, the province updates and perfects mechanisms and policies to pave the way for development, attract investment; develop key economic sectors and fields (agricultural, aquatic, food processing, medical - biomedical - chemical - pharmaceutical, processing, manufacturing, construction, renewable energy).
On the other hand, the province focuses on investing in education and training, developing high-quality human resources, digital human resources, especially in high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture, and processing industry. Tien Giang needs to enhance its capacity to adapt to climate change, manage resources and protect the environment; promote administrative procedure reform, and improve the investment environment. The province has completed specialized technical planning, prepared projects, and fields calling for investment to welcome investors, especially large and potential investors; at the same time, promoted internal resources to better exploit potential to break through and rise up.
Welcoming businesses and investors who have chosen Tien Giang to implement the project, the Prime Minister asked businesses and investors to promote their mission in the spirit of "three together" - "listen, understand", "share vision and act", "do, enjoy, win and develop together". The Prime Minister requested the business community, investors, ministries, branches and leaders of Tien Giang province: if you say something, you must do it; if you commit, you must carry it out; if you carry it out, you must have real results, be able to weigh, measure, count and quantify them, creating new momentum, new motivation, new confidence, and new victories for Tien Giang.
