According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 11th, at the invitation of Klaus Schwab, Founder and Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and Romanian Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, will attend the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland) and pay official visits to Hungary and Romania from January 16th to 23rd.

The annual World Economic Forum 2024 (WEF 2024) will officially take place from January 15-19 in the famous resort town of Davos, Switzerland . This year, the WEF will focus on rebuilding trust in an era of rapid change and a world of increasing fragmentation.
The 54th annual World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos meeting is expected to bring together many leading global figures for dialogue and cooperation to address pressing global issues, including economic growth, climate and nature action, energy security, technology governance, and human development. According to announcements, the WEF Davos 2024 meeting has received confirmation of attendance from approximately 3,000 delegates, including 70 national leaders, 250 ministers, 2,500 leaders of corporations and international organizations, and numerous reputable experts and academics.
Hungary and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on February 3, 1950. The two countries share a traditional friendship with a history spanning over 72 years. In particular, bilateral relations have developed positively since the upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Partnership during General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to Hungary in 2018. Two-way trade reached US$1.2 billion in 2022, nearly double that of 2018 – the first year the two countries upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Partnership.
Both sides also agreed to strengthen bilateral trade cooperation by continuing to fully and effectively implement the European Union (EU) - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA); improving the effectiveness of the Joint Committee mechanism on economic cooperation; and creating favorable conditions for each other's goods to enter each other's markets.
Bilateral relations between Vietnam and Romania are developing well in many areas, including politics, diplomacy, economics, security, defense, culture, and education and training.
Of that total, bilateral trade reached $425 million in 2022, an increase of 14.8% compared to 2021.
The Vietnamese community in Romania currently numbers around 700,000 people, and approximately 4,000 Vietnamese workers are also employed there.
