Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visits the Military Technical Academy

(CPV) - On the afternoon of December 18, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Military Technical Academy ( Ministry of National Defense ). Also attending were leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, ministries, branches, officers, lecturers, students, staff and soldiers of the Military Technical Academy.

Established in 1966, up to now, the Military Technical Academy has trained and fostered tens of thousands of highly qualified scientific and technical cadres and high-quality human resources, contributing to the building of a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern Vietnam People's Army. The Academy actively participates in major projects and programs of the Army and the State, builds training programs, orients scientific research, supplements knowledge about weapons, and provides new technical equipment for the military and service branches, contributing to meeting the requirements of combat readiness and victory of our Army.

The Military Technical Academy (Ministry of National Defense) pays special attention to research and application of science and technology, new weapons and equipment; modern facilities and equipment; and development of a team of highly qualified lecturers. The Academy's staff and lecturers have published nearly 6,000 scientific articles, of which more than 1,100 articles have been published in prestigious international journals; have 5 exclusive patents and utility solutions, and 28 intellectual property registrations have been accepted as valid applications. The Academy focuses on international cooperation, exchanges and signs cooperation agreements with more than 180 partners from more than 30 countries, and promotes training and development for the Lao and Cambodian armies.

The Academy proactively builds information technology infrastructure, digital transformation, modernizes management, operation, education - training organization, scientific research; is the main training facility for digital transformation human resources for the Ministry of National Defense and serves the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

The Military Technical Academy aims to become a top research university in science, technology and engineering in the country by 2030, with fields equivalent to major universities in the region and international integration, in the top 700 advanced and leading universities in the world. By 2045, the Academy will be in the top 500 advanced and leading universities in the world.

Speaking here, in the proud and emotional atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his joy at visiting the Military Technical Academy - a key national university, the leading center for education, training, and scientific and technical research of the Army and the country.

Over the past 80 years, under the absolute and direct leadership of the Party in all aspects, with the love and protection of the people and the help of international friends, the Vietnam People's Army has achieved many glorious feats and great victories, built a heroic tradition, a glorious career, and glorified the history of building and defending the country of our people; worthy of being the heroic Army of the heroic Vietnamese people as President Ho Chi Minh said: "Our Army is loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every task is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated".

According to the Prime Minister, the cultural and historical traditions of the nation, the traditions of the Army and the Academy must always be a source of pride, always a part of the flesh and blood of every officer and soldier, and need to continue to be strongly promoted in the process of growth and maturity of the Academy.

Assessing the Academy's many unique features, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in nearly 60 years of construction and development, the Academy has always promoted the nature and tradition of the heroic, united, creative, self-reliant and self-reliant Vietnam People's Army to excellently complete all tasks; and has made many contributions to the common achievements of the Army and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

These impressive results have affirmed the position, role, stature and brand of the Military Technical Academy in education, training, scientific research and international cooperation. On behalf of the Government leaders, the Prime Minister congratulated and commended the achievements and efforts of the cadres, lecturers, students, staff and soldiers of the Military Technical Academy in recent years.

In the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed to build the Academy to have a brand in the region by 2030, and by 2045 to become a famous brand in the Asia-Pacific region and the world, with trained human resources able to work in the public and private sectors, both domestically and internationally.

The Prime Minister requested to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the Party's guidelines, policies and viewpoints, and the State's laws and policies on military, national defense, education and training, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, effectively serving the cause of industrialization, modernization, national construction and defense.

Regarding some specific tasks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted the need to always closely link research, training and practice, closely follow reality, combine learning with practice, theory with practice; focus on building databases, applying artificial intelligence; research ways of thinking, methodologies, and approaches to solve problems, including those of a national, comprehensive, global nature and specific practical problems.

Continue to innovate and improve the quality of education, training and scientific research; innovate training content and programs, ensure effectiveness, practicality, modernize the Army, and integrate internationally; focus on training a team of highly qualified military science and technology cadres; promote dual-use training.

In particular, it is necessary to focus on building and updating training programs, directing research to new issues, such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor technology, the Internet of Things, etc. Actively participate in the program "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050". Pay attention to training a team of design engineers, chief engineers, and general engineers to serve the development of the defense industry and serve the country.

Promote scientific research, closely following the scientific and technological orientation of the State, the Ministry of National Defense, and the practical needs of the unit and society. Harmoniously combine basic research and applied research. Focus on researching and applying new scientific and technological advances in mastering new generation weapons and technical equipment.

Promote international cooperation; strengthen cooperation with countries that have advanced weapons and military equipment technology and are capable of transferring technology. Expand international cooperation in training and scientific research to improve the qualifications of staff and lecturers.
