The Sunflower Audiobook Library for the Blind has a new director.

In addition to the new director, in the coming time, the Huong Duong Audiobook Library for the Blind (referred to as the Huong Duong Audiobook Library) will have many more activities to serve the visually impaired, and at the same time contribute to helping society better understand the visually impaired, so as to accompany them in life.

On July 25th, the leadership of Huong Duong Audiobook Library held a cordial meeting with several journalists at the library's headquarters (18B Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Tan Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) to provide information about personnel and future activities. Accordingly, the new director of Huong Duong Audiobook Library is Mr. Tran Anh Khoi, a person who has been active in the field of education and training in Ho Chi Minh City for many years.

The Huong Duong Audiobook Library, established in 1998, has gone through many stages and is now building a new mission: "Understanding the visually impaired - Serving the visually impaired." From a unit specializing in audiobooks for the blind, the Huong Duong Audiobook Library (under the Audiobook Fund for the Blind) has contributed to this charitable work for 27 years, with approximately 5000 audiobook titles.

In addition, the library has also implemented two major scholarship programs: the Lotus Scholarship for visually impaired students (since 2001, it has awarded more than 4,500 scholarships worth over 7.4 billion VND) and the Sunflower Scholarship for visually impaired students (since 2000, it has awarded more than 1,000 scholarships worth over 4.7 billion VND).

In addition, the library has also conducted two meaningful training activities, including: a computer skills certification exam preparation class for visually impaired students, and a smartphone usage class for visually impaired people.

Furthermore, the Library also organizes useful activities such as a Chess Tournament for the Blind, donating walking canes, providing medical examinations and medication for the visually impaired, organizing trips to the beach for blind students, and holding a music night called "Light from the Heart" featuring performances by visually impaired young people and renowned singers and artists.

To maintain the quality of audiobook production, the library recently organized training sessions for volunteer readers, with instructors being renowned "voices" such as Ms. Khai Hoan, Ms. Kim Phuong, and Mr. Le Hung. This July, the library will organize small but meaningful "homegrown" activities, such as the "Singing with the Visually Impaired" cultural evening (July 26th) and the "Portrait Photography for the Visually Impaired" project (July 31st) right at the library's headquarters.

“The music night was conceived and organized in a very short time, but we were fortunate to have the support of many volunteers. With the desire to make this activity a regular event, we sincerely hope to receive support from sponsors so that the program can become even better, reach a wider audience, and thus provide a stable source of funding for audiobook production,” said Mr. Tran Anh Khoi, Director of the Huong Duong Audiobook Library.

Furthermore, the library will undergo many new developments between now and the end of the year. According to the plan, in August, the Sunflower Library will be established, offering free cultural activities for disadvantaged people, such as the "Reading for Visually Impaired Children" program. The library also plans to launch a mobile application to make it easier for visually impaired people to listen to audiobooks.
