Further promoting the trade partnership between the United States and Vietnam

(Chinhphu.vn) - The Office of the United States Trade Representative has just published a press release about the meeting between the Chief US Trade Representative and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien. Both sides agreed to continue constructive dialogue to resolve issues and further promote the trade partnership between the United States and Vietnam.

On April 24, 2024, the website of the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) posted the official announcement of the online meeting between Chief United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

The statement said: US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer had an online meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien to discuss bilateral trade issues.

During the meeting, Mr. Greer highlighted the important economic relationship between the United States and Vietnam and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to promoting fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial trade. The two sides discussed trade issues. Mr. Greer noted Vietnam’s recent efforts to enforce trade regulations.

Both sides agreed to continue constructive dialogue to resolve issues and further promote the trade partnership between the United States and Vietnam.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien - Head of the Government's negotiation delegation had a phone call with US Trade Representative Jamieson L. Greer to officially launch negotiations on bilateral economic and trade issues between Vietnam and the United States.

Previously, as reported by the Government Electronic Newspaper, on the evening of April 23, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien - Head of the Government's negotiation delegation had a phone call with US Trade Representative Jamieson L. Greer to officially launch negotiations on bilateral economic and trade issues between Vietnam and the United States.

This is an important meeting to discuss the principles, scope and roadmap of the negotiations. The phone call was attended by members of the Government Negotiation Delegation and technical representatives from relevant ministries and sectors.

During the phone call, Minister of Industry and Trade and Head of the Government Negotiation Delegation Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to developing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States and wishes to promote economic and trade relations in a balanced, stable, sustainable and effective manner with the United States.

Vietnamese ministries and sectors are ready to negotiate and resolve issues of concern to the United States, and work with the United States to find reasonable solutions for mutual benefit, in the spirit of harmonious interests and shared risks.
