Thuy Nguyen is a city directly under Hai Phong from January 1, 2025.

Thuy Nguyen District is the northern gateway of Hai Phong City. Over the years, the district's socio -economic development has always exceeded the set targets and plans and maintained at a high level.

Important traffic routes passing through the area such as: National Highway 10 (connecting Thai Binh - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh provinces), Hai Phong - Hai Duong inter-provincial road and provincial roads 359, 352 running through together with the waterway system on Cam River, Kinh Thay River, Bach Dang River... have been creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, economic trade with neighboring provinces and cities in the region.

In the district, there are industrial parks (IPs), industrial clusters (CCNs) such as: Ben Rung Industrial Park, Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park, Kenh Giang - Dong Son - Hoa Binh Industrial Park, Minh Duc - Tam Hung Industrial Park...

At the same time, there are many historical architectural works such as: Tran Quoc Bao temple, Kien Bai communal house, Dong Ly communal house... and many relics that are both scenic spots and have historical value such as: Vua cave, Luong cave, Bach Dang Giang relic... creating favorable conditions for the development of tourism, trade and services.

Currently, the new administrative and political center of Hai Phong City has been basically completed. It is expected that the agencies of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Departments, branches, and affiliated agencies and units, and the City Public Administration Service Center will move to the new administrative center in early 2025.

With the above-mentioned potentials and advantages of Thuy Nguyen, along with the fact that the Administrative Center of Hai Phong City will move to the district in early 2025, it will create a breakthrough driving force for Thuy Nguyen to soon complete and rise to meet the standards to become a city directly under Hai Phong City and be the nucleus to promote Hai Phong to become a major economic center, a driving force for the development of the whole country, a modern city with a position in the region.

The recognition of Thuy Nguyen urban area as a type III urban area under Hai Phong city will meet the development requirements of Thuy Nguyen urban area, contribute to raising the awareness and responsibility of officials and people, and determination to build Thuy Nguyen district into a city worthy of being the political and administrative center of Hai Phong city, a civilized, modern, ecological city with a strong identity; at the same time, create a driving force that greatly impacts the development of Hai Phong city.
