Up to now, the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop in Long An province has been planted on more than 133,000/217,300 hectares, reaching more than 61% of the total crop sowing plan, concentrated in districts in the Dong Thap Muoi region such as Tan Hung, Vinh Hung, Moc Hoa, Thanh Hoa, Duc Hoa, Duc Hue. Currently, farmers are continuing to sow the second batch, expected to last until May 28, and the third batch from June 10 to June 25 will be sown in areas without proactive water sources and southern districts with safe dikes.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Long An province, most of the rice fields that have been sown are growing well and are in the seedling and tillering stages, but pests such as brown planthoppers, rice blast, thrips, leaf rollers, etc. and even golden apple snails and rats are biting and destroying the rice. However, they have not caused much damage.
Faced with the above situation, the functional sector of Long An province has urgently instructed farmers to promote mechanization and apply scientific and technological advances in production. At the same time, they have increased propaganda and regularly updated the weather, hydrology, pests and diseases so that farmers can proactively respond.
According to Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Long An province, to successfully produce the Summer-Autumn crop in 2025, the agricultural sector of localities and farmers need to pay attention to ensuring the isolation period between the two rice crops, tilling the land, using biological products to decompose straw and applying advanced techniques in production to reduce costs, such as "3 reductions, 3 increases", "1 must, 5 reductions" and smart rice cultivation to adapt to climate change.

In Tien Giang , farmers in the Go Cong sweetening area have also begun sowing rice and growing vegetables for the 2025 Summer-Autumn crop. Tien Giang provincial authorities are operating water sources from sluices into the fields to alternately drain and wash the fields to create favorable conditions for farmers to sow the Summer-Autumn crop on schedule.
Right from the beginning of the season, the functional sector of Tien Giang province has trained, instructed and transferred the "Technical process of producing high-quality and low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta" for farmers to apply in the cultivation process, improving rice cultivation efficiency.
In addition, the functional sector of Tien Giang province and localities have built a model of "Plant health management on rice plants", or a model of "Smart rice cultivation adapting to climate change"... These models, when applied, will bring superior efficiency compared to traditional rice cultivation in the past.
In addition, farmers are advised to proactively visit the fields and closely monitor the development of brown planthoppers in the fields to be proactive in preventing brown planthoppers in rice. It is necessary to apply a combination of cultivation measures right from the beginning of the season to effectively manage pests such as weeds, thrips, organize rat extermination, and kill golden apple snails...
