Regarding the mass death of dairy cows after vaccination in Lam Dong as continuously reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, currently 330/350 livestock farming households have agreed to the compensation plan of Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company.
Authorities help destroy sick and dead dairy cows after being vaccinated against lumpy skin disease.On the afternoon of November 12, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province informed that Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company (Navetco Company) is implementing compensation for livestock farmers, the case of dairy cows getting sick and dying in large numbers after being vaccinated against lumpy skin disease by this enterprise.
Accordingly, after completing the compensation plan, from October 14 to 24, Navetco Company, together with relevant local authorities, organized 21 meetings in communes and wards with sick and dead cows to conduct specific negotiations with each household.
Thereby, 330/350 livestock farming households agreed to the plan proposed by Navetco Company, with a total compensation cost of more than 35.5 billion VND (for 7,186 sick cows and 511 dead cows).
People in Tu Tra commune, Don Duong district are worried when dairy cows get sick and die after being vaccinated against lumpy skin disease.
Navetco Company has made the first payment (50% of the compensation and support value) to 330 households. The households have agreed and signed a memorandum of agreement with the amount of more than 17.78 billion VND. The company is expected to complete the second payment before November 28.
For the 20 households that have not agreed, Navetco Company continues to coordinate with localities and related units to negotiate and reach an agreement with each household based on the results of damage assessment , ensuring rights, with appropriate compensation and in accordance with the provisions of law.
Many farmers take measures to protect their dairy herds.
Currently, Lam Dong province has 5 enterprises purchasing raw fresh milk, with 20 milk purchasing stations, purchasing about 270 to 280 tons/day.
According to the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the death of dairy cows due to disease after being vaccinated with Navet-LPvac has affected the milk supply to companies. In August and September 2024, milk production decreased by 10 to 15%. Currently, milk production has increased again, only decreasing by 5 to 7% compared to August and September 2024.
Regarding the work of supporting farmers to restore herds and reproduce, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has developed a "Project for developing dairy farming in Lam Dong province, period 2025-2030" and sent it to departments, branches and localities for comments.
