Tom Cruise will receive a lifetime achievement Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the organization that awards the Oscars) confirmed on June 17.
Actress and choreographer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas were also selected for the honor by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences board of governors.

The honorees will receive their Oscars at the annual Governors Awards ceremony in November 2025.

Parton – country singer and star of films such as Steel Magnolias , The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas … received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her charitable efforts. Parton’s Imagination Library has provided more than 284 million free books to children over the past 30 years, according to the Oscar website. She received two Oscar nominations for best song for films such as 9 to 5 , Transamerica .

Allen has starred in films such as Fame , Ragtime , has directed the Academy Awards seven times and several films.
Production designer Thomas worked with director Spike Lee on She's Gotta Have It, Do the Right Thing and was responsible for producing the Oscar-winning best picture film A Beautiful Mind .
Tom Cruise, who stars in the now-released blockbuster Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, was chosen for his decades of work in Risky Business , the two Top Gun films, and several others. He has received two Oscar nominations for Best Actor for Born on the Fourth of July , Jerry Maguire , and Best Supporting Actor for Magnolia .
