Honoring the value of Ca Mau crab products

“Ca Mau crab is considered a product with high nutritional value, favored by domestic and foreign markets. The product has been granted a Certificate of Trademark Registration and Geographical Indication Protection by the Department of Intellectual Property. With a scale of more than 365,000 hectares of farming area (accounting for 78% of the country) and an output of over 36,000 tons/year (accounting for 53% of the country), Ca Mau is completely worthy of being the “crab capital of Vietnam”.

That was the assessment of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam, at the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival, with the theme "Ca Mau Crab - Forest flavor, sea flavor", taking place on the evening of November 16 at Phan Ngoc Hien Square, An Xuyen ward.

Comrade Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, emphasized the significance of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival.

In the jubilant, united and excited atmosphere of the festival, the Organizing Committee was honored to welcome comrade Nguyen Thanh Tam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee; comrade Phan Nhu Nguyen, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; comrade Cao Xuan Thu Van, President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance; comrade Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, and leaders of the provinces of Vinh Long, An Giang, Dong Thap, Can Tho, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival, comrade Pham Van Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Steering Committee of the Ca Mau Crab Festival 2025 emphasized: "Through this series of events, the province demonstrates its determination to affirm the brand value of Ca Mau Crab, expand cooperation, investment, trade, and tourism; at the same time, create a forum connecting managers, scientists and businesses, joining hands for the sustainable development of Vietnam's fisheries industry".

Comrade Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, said that the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival in 2025 not only promotes the image and tourism but also honors the seafood industry - especially the Ca Mau crab industry. High-quality crab products and the sustainable shrimp - crab - forest model have brought great economic value, improved income for tens of thousands of households, enhanced export brands, and contributed to building an ecological, sustainable and globally competitive seafood chain.

Provincial leaders and the Organizing Committee honored organizations and individuals with outstanding contributions to the Ca Mau crab industry.

With the theme “Ca Mau Crab - The scent of the forest and the taste of the sea”, the opening art program includes two chapters: “Ca Mau - The convergence of nature and cultural identity of the South” and “Ca Mau Crab - The quintessence of the Cape”. The program recreates the cultural beauty and rich spiritual life of the Ca Mau people; at the same time, it expresses the joy and pride of the ethnic people in the new appearance of the province - civilized, modern, friendly and constantly developing. The program is broadcast live on Ca Mau Newspaper, Radio and Television and rebroadcast on stations in the provinces in the region.
