The event, taking place from November 16-22, is a cultural - economic - tourism highlight of the locality, attracting the business community, scientists and a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Chairman of the People's Council of Ca Mau province Pham Van Thieu affirmed that the Ca Mau Crab Festival is not only a festival for the people of the Cape, but also an opportunity to promote the image of "Ca Mau - the southernmost land, dynamic, friendly, rich in development potential" to friends across the country and internationally; demonstrating the determination to build Ca Mau into a center of marine economy, fisheries, clean energy and eco- tourism of the Mekong Delta region.
The 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival - 2025 is designed as a series of continuous events, combining festival space, cultural performances with economic activities, investment and trade promotion. The opening ceremony is associated with an art program recreating the journey of people clinging to the sea, protecting the forest, building the Ca Mau Crab brand from the mangrove forest to the dining tables of diners everywhere, thereby honoring the hard work and creativity of the people of the Cape.
The exhibition and trade exhibition space gathers more than 270 booths introducing OCOP products, start-up products, creative innovations, and unique cuisine from crabs and regional products. This is where businesses, cooperatives, and production households promote their products, connect with partners, and expand their consumption markets, especially for deep-processed products from crabs and key seafood, thereby further affirming the brand value of "Ca Mau Crab".
The highlight of the Festival is the International Workshop on “Innovation for sustainable development of the Vietnamese crab industry”, gathering scientists, experts, and domestic and foreign enterprises. The workshop focuses on sharing experiences, effective crab farming models, scientific and technological solutions in breeding, commercial farming, processing, preservation, brand building and expanding export markets, contributing to perfecting the orientation for sustainable development of the crab industry.
Along with that is a series of cultural - sports - tourism activities such as the Southern amateur music festival, culinary performances, crab delicacies, folk games, and a tour - experience program of ecological crab farming under the mangrove forest canopy. The program "Hello Ca Mau" held in Ho Chi Minh City opens another channel to introduce the local image, typical products and investment opportunities to the business community and large investors, contributing to spreading the brand and image of Ca Mau more widely.

Ca Mau crab and green economic model under mangrove forest canopy
Ca Mau is blessed with a mangrove ecosystem and a long coastline, making it the “cradle” of the aquaculture industry with large farming and exploitation output. From that advantage, people have formed a shrimp-crab-fish model under the forest canopy, developing Ca Mau crab products in an ecological, environmentally friendly direction, linking production with the protection of forest and marine resources.
Ca Mau crabs are mainly raised in the mangrove ecosystem, where natural food sources are abundant and the environment is less affected by chemicals, so the crabs have firm, fragrant, sweet, nutritious meat, highly appreciated by consumers. This is not only a quality product, with the leading output in the country with over 36 thousand tons per year, but also a cultural symbol of the Cape, trusted and loved by domestic and foreign markets.
With the largest farming scale in the country (over 365 thousand hectares, accounting for about 78% of the area and an output of over 36 thousand tons, accounting for about 53%), Ca Mau has all the conditions to develop the crab industry in a modern direction, linked to the value chain. Ca Mau crab has been granted a Certificate of Trademark Registration by the Department of Intellectual Property and is protected by geographical indications, creating an important legal foundation for market expansion and brand building at the national and international levels.
From that reality, the province aims to build a systematic crab production value chain, from quality breeds, ecological farming processes, VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic certification to harvesting, preliminary processing, deep processing, diversifying products, and increasing added value. Along with agricultural development, Ca Mau promotes eco-tourism associated with Ca Mau crab products, forming tours to visit mangrove forests, experience catching crabs, enjoy "forest flavor - sea flavor" cuisine and promote e-commerce so that farmers, cooperatives, and businesses can directly access consumers and international markets.
Deserving of the title "Crab capital of Vietnam"
Speaking at the Festival, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam emphasized that Ca Mau is not only famous for its vast green U Minh Ha forest, but also for its coastal mangrove forest - a typical mangrove ecosystem, rich in biodiversity with many valuable aquatic species, especially the red crab - resilient, clinging to the mangrove forest, living in harmony with nature. The image of that crab, according to him, is also a metaphor for the spirit of Ca Mau people today: Patience, perseverance and aspiration to rise up dynamically and creatively in the context of integration.
With the largest crab farming scale in the country, an area of over 365,000 hectares, an output of over 36,000 tons, Ca Mau currently contributes about 78% of the area and 53% of the crab output of the whole country. The province deserves to be called the "crab capital of Vietnam", not only because of its production scale but also because of its harmonious development model between economy and environment, between aquaculture and mangrove protection and sustainable livelihoods for the people.
According to Mr. Nam, the shrimp-crab-forest model of Ca Mau has been internationally recognized, clearly demonstrating the path of developing a green economy, a circular economy, adapting to climate change, contributing significantly to the implementation of Vietnam's commitment to net zero emissions by 2050 (Net-Zero 2050). Therefore, the Ca Mau Crab Festival is not only an occasion to honor local products, but also a message about the choice of sustainable development of the province and of Vietnam's agricultural sector in the new period.

Infrastructure, clean energy and blue economy – new driving force for the southernmost region
According to Mr. Nam, Ca Mau needs to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to turn the Ca Mau Crab Festival into a regional cultural and tourism event, moving towards a national festival, associated with the Strategy for developing eco-tourism in the southernmost part of the country.
The Ca Mau Crab Festival in 2025 is expected to not only be an opportunity to promote the image, promote trade and stimulate tourism, but also a symbol of the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance and aspiration of Ca Mau province, contributing to the whole country to successfully achieve the goal by 2030 - Vietnam is a developing country with modern industry, high average income and by 2045 - become a developed country, high income.
