On the morning of September 21, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, departed from Hanoi to attend the Summit on the Future of the United Nations General Assembly, the 79th session, work in the United States, and then pay a state visit to Cuba at the invitation of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez, and his wife.

The official delegation accompanying the General Secretary and President included the following Politburo members: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Secretary of the Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Central Committee and Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; and Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security. Also present were Secretaries of the Central Committee: Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Chief of the Central Party Office; and Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Department.

The delegation also included Central Committee members: Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nguyen Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Central Economic Committee; Le Khanh Hai, Head of the Office of the President; Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment; Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Minister of Construction and Chairman of the Vietnamese Subcommittee of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee; Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training; Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee and President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association; and Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee and Head of the Hai Phong City National Assembly Delegation.

The working visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to the United Nations is of great significance, further affirming Vietnam's contributions to the world's largest multilateral organization, and demonstrating Vietnam's proactive and positive participation in addressing regional and global issues.

On the other hand, the trip to the United States coincided with the one-year anniversary of the two countries upgrading their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the ongoing preparations for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States in 2025.

This is an important occasion for both sides to review the achievements brought about by the new relationship framework, and to discuss major directions and measures to continue maintaining the positive, stable, and substantive development of the relationship in the years to come.

Meanwhile, the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam is a testament to the traditional solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, which has always been considered a precious asset nurtured by the Parties, States, and peoples of both countries. It also demonstrates Vietnam's high regard for Cuba and Cuba's position in Vietnam's foreign policy.
