General Secretary and President To Lam visits the Embassy and meets the Vietnamese community in China

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, continuing the State visit to the People's Republic of China, on the evening of August 18 local time, right after arriving in Beijing, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​met and had a friendly talk with officials, staff of the Embassy, ​​representatives of the community and Vietnamese students in China.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai reported to the General Secretary, President and the delegation on the results of the Embassy's work, the situation of Vietnam-China bilateral relations and the work of Vietnamese people in China.

Talking to the staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in China, General Secretary and President To Lam said that this was his first visit to China in his new position at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. The visit is of great significance, taking place after two historic visits by the two highest leaders of the Party and State of the two countries: General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China in 2022 - the first foreign leader China invited to visit officially right after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping's visit to Vietnam in December 2023.

General Secretary and President To Lam once again expressed his gratitude for the deep condolences from the Party, State, and people of China, and personally from General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, upon the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that his first State visit to China in his new position is to discuss with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and other key Chinese leaders measures to further deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, which is of strategic significance, meeting the interests of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world. Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives top priority to developing relations with China.

Appreciating the efforts of the Vietnamese community in contributing to fostering the friendship between the two countries, General Secretary and President To Lam requested that they continue to strive in diplomacy, trade, study and research, integrating with the local community, strengthening mutual trust, and consolidating the traditional friendship between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam hoped that the Vietnamese Embassy would continue to implement more effectively the existing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries; propose new cooperation mechanisms suitable to the specific conditions of the two countries, bringing benefits to both countries, in accordance with international law, for peace and development; continue to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two countries, promote people-to-people exchange activities.

General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that the Party and State always consider the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in China, an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc. The State creates all favorable conditions to support and care for Vietnamese people abroad.

General Secretary and President To Lam hopes that the Vietnamese community in China will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, help each other to develop together; strive to rise up, actively integrate, comply with the law and contribute to the development of the host country; at the same time, always turn towards the homeland and country, proactively make practical and effective contributions to the cause of national construction and development; and be a bridge for the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Previously, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, offered flowers at the statue of Uncle Ho in the Embassy grounds.
